I have read in Sony leaked emails that Pixels needed 250M WW and it should end with 230M or so, so not a bad year for Sandler at all.

Pixels really made up ground OS. Not a money maker, but not a money loser either. Sony will get back their investment and then some once it hits VOD and Home Video.

It had great legs after a bad 2nd weekend drop as well.

Well, I have to disagree about not counting animated films for very well known celebrities.

I think they can really count as well. Cause some animated films can be the biggest for certain actors and actresses. :)

For example:

WW-wise....Ben Stiller's highest grossing film is Madagascar 3. Sandra Bullock's highest grosser is Minions. Eddie Murphy & Mike Myers with Shrek 2. Tom Hanks with TS3....etc.

So it would be more fair if HT2 actually does count as an Adam Sandler.

Like Mojoguy asked..why wouldn't animated films be counted?

Very rarely is an actor's name and popularity a reason for an animated film's opening weekend.  A great vocal performance  can make a much better film and certainly drive box office. The best example of this would be Robin Williams in Aladdin.  But how many people actually saw Minions for Bullock?

Sony has been really successful with late September with SPA and also live action with The Equalizer last year. If Magnificent Seven manages to crack $30m+ it'll be another live action winner for Sony

That seems like another 30m+ opener; Washington, Pratt, Hawke + Fuqua is a winning combo.

We all like to bag on Sony recently (especially cause they've had a bad year overall) but before then, they've done pretty good for themselves. And hopefully HT2 is a bit of a turnaround for them; they have Walk and SPECTRE coming up so...
