But with 123M, we got 66M on Friday, which is the highest ever (JW did 63.45M). From that I can see 70M+ on Saturday and 245-250M for the full weekend. Why the assumption that Saturday will increase? What was the cutoff for the preview grosses? Before or including midnight shows?

It destroyed the preview record and still managed to beat the "true Friday" record as well, which is damn hard to do. Normally that true Friday record is held by a very backloaded movie (Spider-Man 3, Avengers, Jurassic World). Curious to see what it can do the rest of the weekend. $250m very much in play.

Before or including midnight shows? I'm undecided. Couple pages back I said flat or decrease at best but then I started looking around at potential Saturday business and it looks a bit stronger than I imagined. We don't know the cutoff, Disney hasn't affirmed anything. But the assumption is 7PM-6AM = 57M. Everythiing after is counted for Friday.

If it goes up near 70M it might take the "true Friday" attendance record from SM3 as well, depending on the 3D splits.

What's mindboggling is that we beat the OW record, after it was just broken 6 months earlier. All in the same year. And by 30ish million is seems. Crazy.

spizzer
Saturday attendance record is 7.5M by SM1/SM3. TA at about 7.3M. That'll be tough to do, even with a low 3D share it'd need around 75-76M to match and higher to take the record. If signs point to that level of Saturday business though with a more typical 3D share, we'd be getting close to 80M tomorrow.
