Ash Skywalker
Deadline is pulling an EXCEL. STAR WARS Does a blazing 38M on WEDNESDAY, where all movies drops from Tuesday, it increased a +1% "Not a record" This is stupidity.

If it really does follow Avatar's trajectory this weekend, then a billion is done......DONE. Ridiculous. I'm still projecting a 30-35% drop tonight. Christmas is a big deal here in North America...surely there will be one night where Christmas Mass and visits and egg nog win out over lightsabres, the force and Millenium Falcons.

cory
Sold around 40% more tickets than TDK/CF's record non-opening/non-holiday Wednesdays. 14th all-time including openers.

Correction: Deadline is going back to its roots (Nikki) just like Star Wars is going back to its roots (original trilogy).
Deathlife
This movie is the beast incarnate. Brock Lesnar's got nothing on this. (Wrestling fans get the reference).
terrestrial
Hmm I don't want to read the article enough to learn why as I am reading something else, but I am a bit wondering why Deadline Hollywood @Deadline 4 mins4 minutes ago Disney's Bob Iger Made $44.9M In 2015, Down From Year Ago http://bit.ly/1OpRXbR

That would still be a much bigger Thursday than Jurassic World, TDK, etc. Christmas Eve still has some box office steroids compared to normal Thursdays. Friday and Saturday will be crazy!!!

baumer
Oh, and btw...SWTFA is now the third highest grossing film of the year domestically.
SoSaysI
So the highest non-opening Thursday is $29,094,472 by Transformers 2. That seems completely out of reach as it would if require a sub 25% drop but the impossible may be possible for this movie at this point.
smerfy01
So if these numbers hold up, how is OS looking? Because WW is sitting at $727 million without counting OS for Wednesday. Are we gonna be confident that TFA is at $760 million WW reported in a few hours?
RamblinRed
It would have to drop at least 35% to fall below 25M on X Eve. That sounds ludicrous even to say.
baumer
We won't see a 200 mill second weekend, that would be bigger than the first weekend minus previews....not happening. 140-180 is the range imho.
redfirebird2008
If it gets to $775-800m by the end of New Year's weekend, $1 billion is pretty much locked. Incredible stuff.
