I don't get why The Revenant is nominated for Visual Effects. Are there really more scenes other than the bear attack where they used F/X?

They only get 15 minutes of footage for that category, same thing happened in 2010 when Hereafter was nominated (over Tron 2 even!)

And yes just 15 minutes-that be like getting just 15 minutes for costumes and showing scenes at a dance to get nominated!

By the way, the only times DiCaprio has ever attended the Oscars were in years where he was nominated (his snubbing of the Titanic ceremony was a pretty big deal at that time). Assuming he wins tonight, next year will be the first time he attends the Oscars in a year where he wasn't nominated (since the Best Actor winner always comes back the following year to present Best Actress and vice versa).
