Deadpool shot up the weekend with an estimated 55 million! Which is the third time an R rated film made it over 50 million mark right next to American Sniper and The Passion Of The Christ, Deadpool is now the highest grossing X-Men film domestic and is near 500 million worldwide already! Deadpool should still hold up strong considering the lack of competition, and should end its run around 350 million domestic. Kung Fu Panda 3 still hanging on with  an estimated 12.3 million this weekend considering Zootopia comes out in two weeks, Panda should have some wiggle room left over and ends its run around 140 million. Risen was off to a decent start with an estimated 11.8 million and was slightly ahead of War Room's 11.3 million debut back in late August. Wth solid word of mouth, and Easter next month Risen should end its run around 45 million domestic. Indie horror film The Witch was off to an alright start for A24, but among horror film standards for this year  it was below The Boy, and The Forest. But was ahead of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Dark Skies. With negative word of mouth, The Witch should die off quickly and end its run close to 20 million. How To Be Single took a so-so drop around 54% this weekend, which is significantly better than About Last Night's 70.6% drop back in 2014. How To Be Single should end its run above 40 million domestic. Race was off to a slow start which was below last year's McFarland U.S.A. The film although has encouraging word of mouth but that isn't sure sign of holding power. Race should finish over 20 million. Zoolander 2 took a hefty drop this weekend around 60% which is steeper than the first film's drop back in 2001. If more drops like this occur, Zoolander 2 will fall short of 30 million.

Been saying that for 20 years. Time to remake "Terms of Endearment " or "Ordinary people "? Nah, won't gross more than 30m these days. Where on the road to looking at a man's ass for 90 minutes for comic relief. Nothing you can do.

Yep, we're all fucked and you guys will look back and realised that you let it happen.

Solid weekend for Deadpool. The inflated Valentine's Day number from last weekend was always going to put a large dent in the percentage drop, so there's no cause for disappointment or alarm. It got a very strong Saturday bump (and was off 43% from last Saturday's gross), which bodes well for its prospects going forward. It's crazy that in just ten days, it has already made more money domestically than any of the other X-Men films, and it will ultimately sell more tickets as well.

Kung Fu Panda 3 continues to do respectable, albeit not overly impressive business. It should hold very well next weekend, but the release of Zootopia in the following frame should assure that it won't have enough gas in the tank to reach $150 million.

Risen is off to a solid start given its genre. Its per-theatre performance certainly isn't as impressive as other Christian breakouts, but it feels like an entirely different animal with its period setting and relative lack of propagandizing (at least based on the trailer that I saw).

The Witch's opening is a victory for A24, albeit one that is sure to be short-lived because of genre standards. They did a solid job with getting the word out that the film was really good, and the decision to be aggressive with distribution paid off. That being said, with how methodical the film is, the word-of-mouth isn't going to be kind among moviegoers who were expecting more conventional horror fare.

How to Be Single took a rough hit thanks to the Valentine's Day bump from last weekend. Nevertheless, it still held far better than Valentine's Day and Fifty Shades of Grey, so unlike those films, its drops should become lighter from here on out.

Race had an underwhelming debut. The ad campaign was clearly trying to evoke the strategies that made 42 a hit, but it didn't have the same immediacy nor a comparably popular subject (as well known as Jesse Owens is, he's not on the same level of public consciousness as Jackie Robinson, whose achievements are still honored across all of the MLB on the same day each season).

Zoolander 2 crashed and burned. Between the poor hold and the low per-theatre average, its exit from here should be very quick.

Star Wars and The Revenant both continue to chug along with decent holds. The latter will definitely get a boost from its Oscar victories to come next weekend.

All bets are off. The end of society was pinpointed exactly here.

I really hope the upcoming Warcraft movie is a huge success, so video game adapted films will become the next big box office phenomenon.

Um, no, we don't. And I say this as someone who has played a lot of video games and was a serious Warcraft raider for years. I can think of few things that would be worse.

You know how people sometimes damn things with faint praise, by saying its "Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick"? Well, this would be worse than getting poked in the eye with a sharp stick.
