Lionsgate, Paramount and Sony: the turds.

Paramount would have been a force to be reckoned with if they still had Marvel and Dreamworks (both divisions).

Now they only have Transformers, MI, Star Trek and... uh... Turtles?

To be fair though - Lionsgate has yet to show they can have consistent successful films (100m+ grossers) outside of the Hunger Games and thats done for. There is a reason that Lionsgate will go back to small status in the future.

Fahrenheit 9-11 (2004)

Expendables (2010)

Now You See Me (2013)

Divergent (2014)

Insurgent (2015)

Only non Hunger Games / Last Twilight LGF's to cross 100m.... and they couldn't even get Divergent as a whole right

And, hmmm,  GI Joe? It is not a dead franchise but they are taking way too long to release another one.

Umm...the second one, "Retaliation" dropped DOM-wise, due to the WOM it got. It wasn't well recieved.

But.....at least that film increased WW-wise from "Rise of the Cobra".

I think G.I Joe will rear its head again at some point but I wouldn't be surprised if they either:

A: Reboot it

B: Do a Transformers cross-over

An actual sequel is looking very iffy at this point.

Exactly, Paramount letting go those division was their biggest mistake.

Zootopia's performance in China has been so so so much more incredible than here.

It released day and date in China.

OW -

US 75m $

China (and it was a full 3 day one)  23.6m $

2nd Weekend

US ~50m$

China (and no this is not an exceptionally leggy market, probably less so than US and movies fall just as much in their second weekend as here) 60m$+ (WTF!!)

Another fact, its OD has been its lowest day yet and looks to remain so until after the next weekend.

Its receiving exceptional WOM and performing in an out of the world manner. And with no real marketing campaign. Purely WOM driven run. Will make atleast 220m$ even if it has a relatively normal run now. Even that would be 70m, or around 50%, more than the previous animated film record that was just made last month by KFP3, a film with the best of marketing campaign, at the topmost completely-another level of its genre in the country and which was specially made for chinese audience (to be noted though that KFP3 would have made atleast 250m$ but for the terribly horrific release date it got)

Its a run of wonders.

Both GI Joe movies made only 300 m WW with a 150 m budget.

That's a very slim profit margin so I'm not surprised they stopped making sequels.

GI Joe 2 did 375M on a 130M budget. That seems pretty good to me.

Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Zootopia. I've enjoyed Disney's latest outings more than Pixar's (with Frozen being the weak link in that list). I didn't even really care much for Inside Out.

Tangled was good

WIR was great

Frozen was ok

Zootopia was pretty good

IO was amazing! Loved that movie.

Great hold for Zootopia

Decent for 10CL

Hmmm, maybe the cast (Willis, The Rock, Tatum) was starting to get too pricey.

Tatum dies like 15 minutes into the last one  And they can cut on Willis if they want to, nobody cares about him

I'm currently at work, but on Lunch. Lincoln Square Cloverfield IMAX.

I really want to see John Goodman in IMAX.

We need to start working on that campaign to get him a long overdue Oscar nomination. Because...come on now. John Goodman. If anyone in the entertainment industry is a national treasure, it's him.
