After being behind $23m after opening weekend, Dory's cut the lead to $14m and the gap just keeps shrinking. Dory may in fact challenge TDK's final gross if it doesn't collapse against Pets.

Yeah, I think 540 or so looks like what it would be headed for. We will see how Pets hits it though.

Summer weekdays.

They're still really strong weekdays even for summer.

Dory's weekdays are stronger than JW's but its weekends are much smaller.

Saw The Purge 3 today.  I am nowhere into horror as much as I was in high school but I've slowly started checking out more and more releases the past few months and I have to say The Purge 2 and 3 are some of the most enjoyable films of the genre in a long time.  The first was such a gimmick but the last two, led by Grillo, have really been a lot of fun.  I hope it gets dat coin.

So after 19 days, Dory is still out-legging TS3 and IO.

19-day cume/OW=multi.

Dory: $390.09M/$135.06M=2.89x

IO: $257.29M/$90.44M=2.84x

TS3: $307.82M/$110.31M=2.79x

TS3 legs (1.35x 19-day) brings Dory to a $525.91M total. IO legs (1.39x) brings it to a $540.45M total. With Dory taking a hit from Pets this weekend, it'll probably start trailing IO's legs and maybe TS3's, too. With that said it should probably still clear $500M DOM ($505M-$515M).

In its 4th weekend, after the 4th of July, TS3 also faced the opening of DM. It dropped 30%.

In its 4th weekend IO faced Minions. It dropped 40%.

So each Pixar movie had to deal with direct competition.

IDR's drop though. OMG. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

It's 49.5% less than last Tuesday. Dory's Tuesday to Tuesday drop is 44%. To see things in perspective.

IDR looks headed to a third weekend of 7-8M

After being behind $23m after opening weekend, Dory's cut the lead to $14m and the gap just keeps shrinking. Dory may in fact challenge TDK's final gross if it doesn't collapse against Pets.

If it falls in low 40s (40-43%) as opposed to ~50% against Pets, TDK is on because next weekend onwards holds will get better. if it can manage 40-43% against Pets, would expect sub-40% against Ice Age.

510-540m is the range right now imo, with 525m in the middle and pretty realistic.

BO is predicting 23M weekend for FD. I am expecting a somewhat better drop. If IO managed to drop only 40% against Minions opening, why should FD drop harder?

Also, FD Saturday increase will help to soften the % drop this weekend.

IO's previous weekend was deflated due to ID falling on Saturday.

Because of the calendar configuration of their years DORY benefited from ID over the weekend the most (Great Sunday, Good Monday) while TS3 benefited on weekdays mainly (Good Thu, Great Monday) and IO's benefits were spread out (Good Thu, Great Friday, Very bad Saturday with Sunday normalizing somewhat with an increase, Good Monday).

So 45% drop to 23m for Dory post ID in face of Pets would be a big win.
