It is not an optimistic take for sure but not that unreasonable.  X-men went from 116m in 2014 to 120m in 2017.

 

Exchange rate went from  0.160484 (Yuan to USD) to 0.149431 between the 2 spider man release, it need to do 6.5/7% better just to do the same in USD.

 

Mojo did something dumb with the Chinese total for GotG1 recently. If you look, you can see that they updated it in May 2017 for some reason. I think they took the Chinese total in RMB, and then used 2017 exchange rates to get that USD total (because why not!?).

 

I'm pretty sure that GotG1 was closer to $95M in China back in 2014. It made 595M RMB

And the foreign total stopped to change in 2016 too from now (when it was still at 96.47m), so you could be right.

 

I also did find it strange (In my memory the movie almost didn't grew almost not at all after taking online sales surcharges in... and was a bit surprised to see some jump)

Looks around 757-760 mill plus China. 900 mill WW is still in play but far from locked..

I underestimated the movie, + 850m for the sixth spiderman movie is great!!

Upto 746 now (not including Labour Monday). Should get to around 760 from existing markets. About 9-10 from DOM and 4 something million from OS+Japan. 

 

Then just needs 105 to overtake GotG2. 

Needs about 115 to overtake BvS

About 130 to overtake SM3

And about 140 or so to get to 900. 

 

Based on presales in China it is looking to do at least 120 so overtaking BvS shouldnt be a problem. Will need a good presales run and great reviews in China to get to 890-900 world wide and be the highest grossing SH movie of the summer and likely the second highest of the year behind JL.

It is likely, looking like it would do a close to 70m OW, with the standard 2x legs that would make it at 130m China.

Yes it is looking possible. SMH is going to open to around 70m in China. 2x legs should get it to 140m which gets it to 900. 

 

I think it will happen. It has no current competition and Apes is looking weak with presales at the moment so it should hold well.

Is that possible with the 8.1 score mentioned on the China thread? Or 2x is the standard regardless of WoM? Its score is low compared to other MCU movies.
