Oh sure, but it all depends on the movie itself. It could very well be a nothing role that wouldn't gain traction no matter who played it.

I think a drop is a given, even with the potential for the film to play to family audiences. Even though the film is shaping up to have a stronger opening day-to-preview multiplier than most franchise films, the combination of previews and daily summertime boost should make a Saturday increase difficult to attain.

My total stab in the dark based on rth's low end for Friday of $16.5 million:

 

Previews: $3.4 million

Friday (Sans-Preview): $13.1 million

Saturday: $14.4 million (+10%)

Sunday: $11.5 million (-20%)

TOTAL: $42.4 million

 

Using high end of rth's estimate:

 

Previews: $3.4 million

Friday: $14.1 million

Saturday: $15.5 million (+10%)

Sunday: $12.4 million (-20%)

TOTAL: $45.4 million

 

Or is that too generous?

The hair ruins the look. But I was more or so pointing out the flawless choice in the dress. Shame about the hair though because the woman has some of the best hair I've seen.

The Friday number will include previews, which is why it will drop from the overall Friday number, but will increase from the "true" Friday number.

Saturday increases in July don't usually happen for any movie on its opening weekend, family or not.
