I was just thinking about whether or not SS's bigger opening weekend than GotG's means anything due to inflation. Is it still bugger when adjusted accordingly?

Easily.

BOM finally updated overseas grosses for SS, but just up to last Tuesday ( 9th). So, we don't know how much money this movie has made overseas, since Wednesday.

It's at 335.9 million worldwide.  If we add the 8.2 million domestic ( Thursday ), we get 344.1 million worldwide.

If SS makes 44 million for its second weekend, we'll get 388.1 million worldwide. If we add overseas numbers ( from Wednesday to Sunday ), there's a chance this movie makes something close to 500 million worldwide.

600 million possible, in my view.

BVS was at $243M OS (minus China) as of first Tuesday. That ended up accounting for 57,5% of the OS total ignoring China.

SS was at $165M at the same point, and if it performs like BVS it will end up with $287M OS. Holding a little better OS and domestic, it will pass $600M. Don't know if it's correct to assume that, though.

Exactly too funny right.  I don't think it's on either end of the spectrum.  WB is a major studio and they are putting a lot of money into the DCEU.   But I don't view the Synder/WB partnership as a dictorship.  Also studios do change films during production, that's why there are test screenings.   And yes Studio execs do overthink films sometimes to try to fit them in these perfect little boxes because that's what they think (Through formulas) that will make them money.  Now with Josh Trank and "FF4" reboot, it's clear there was strong studio interference but I didn't think he handled it perfessionally bashing the film and studio on social media opening weekend.

Unless you are folking over those hundreds of millions yourself, you have to understand there will be interferece on the product.   Nothing is nobody's 100% unless they truely make it and finance it themselves most of the time.  It's clear WB has given Zack some serious freedom with this universe but they have to protect their investments so there is nothing wrong with Studio interference to an extent.   You People have to understand this is a business at the end of the day.   And Zack has to tote the line between artistic creativity and making a profit for a major studio.

Even recently with "Suicide Squad", some people were saying WB might have hacked up the movie when it was more than likely (Probably through test screening), David and Execs came to an agreement on tone and style changes.  Just because some Joker scenes were left on the cutting room floor doesn't mean the studio came in and hacked the film to death.   Everyone acts like every Joker scene was perfect that didn't make the film.  Thanks to DVD, I've seen a lot of deleted scenes in the last 20 years and honeslty most of the time I came out like (Well cool but I understand the cut).   Not all but most.   I do think the deleted scenes add to the "BatmanVSuperman: Ulitmate cut" so that's one case but even then I understand WB shorten the film.   In most cases 3 hours is just too long for a Superhero/Comic film.

I still love CBMs, but the bitterness and rage is just ugly for discourse. Part of me understands why people are deeply attached and invested. But, there's nothing to be gained by going so ugly on other people.

Alright this is just my opinion:

I think a lot of it comes from the fact that a lot of people who dislike/hate these divisive films want to see a better product. They see the people as loving them as a big problem because that tells the studios they can get away with putting out a sub par to bad product and still get praise. Yeah I know different opinions but that's how I'm viewing all of this controversy.

I've seen major bloggers trash Suicide Squad being on the exact same page as everyone else who hates it. Stating the same problems. The people who love it seem to have seen a different movie or were able to view it in a different way.

This isn't like a Marvel vs DC thing (or at least I hope not). I think fans just expect the studios to do way better with these iconic characters for their money. If people continue to support these films, then nothing gets shaken up and WB can continue on this path. If this continues to make a ton of money, WB won't have to release the other version of Suicide Squad that was screened (that from many who saw it, was a much better movie). A lot of people want to see that version of the movie because to me it can't be any worse.

Now saying that, Suicide Squad has had a good run so far. I don't see it falling like BVS did in it's second weekend. I also think it's drawing a more diverse crowd that also is into the Fast & Furious series. The movie has very urban vibes at times.
