Rogue One is such an event that it's turned weekdays into weekends.

Tsk tsk.  I believe you meant to say:

Makes weekdays feel like a weekend.

I didn't realize that but Rogue One blasted past 2x multiplier on Monday... and will fly past 3x multiplier sometimes near the end of next week

There was already a post about that too, a day or so back, thinking a bit about some 2016 numbers (good and bad), ...

The really good thing about Star Wars in December:

a lot more than the usual cinema going groups / people get to see trailers in the correct environment (on a cinema screen, better sound, co-crowd, friends/family), full focused on them, have mostly a satisfying experience per SW R1 and as such (according to MPAA and the cinemas owners counting general) help the start upcoming cinema year till a few months into the year.

Not drowned in advertising on TV...

Did Star Wars VII help, lets say with 5% the OW of Deadpool? = that was the first newly released big one in 2016

Not meant as 'fandom' theory, I try to follow up a bit on the cinema owners associations statement ~ blockbuster bring in more future customers than on site advertising material (or so, read that again a year back at least)

FB grabbing 1.4 yesterday should lock 230.  Fantastic number and I have to say even the most hopeful of us didn't think it was going to hit a 3 mult.

6 of the 8 potter films opened on a friday like fb.

only 1 of them hit 3x. the 1st one. even chamber of secrets fell a tad short with 2.97x.

surprised that fb will do ~3.1x with previews.

Hilarious reading the RO OW thread now. When the preview #s came in, everyone was freaking out. The most hilarious moments in retrospect were a large amount of people assuming bad WOM and a really low multi for the Holidays based only off the preview #.
