Screen Junkies review is more optimistic and raises some interesting storytelling points present in the film; but Dan Murrell - who I'm not convinced isn't somewhere in this forum, judging by the knowledge present in the Charting vids.... c'mon, reveal yourself, mate  - points that it could in fact be an anti-crowdpleaser (Roth took the other way):

Seems like it could be the kind of film whose divisiveness is somewhat attractive on a wide scale of "judge it for yourself" appeal, but at the same time, it'll likely die after its inevitably huge opening weekend.

Comparing Charting with Dan to Grace Randolph’s Movie Math is night and day.

Was really thinking this was gonna hit $200m dom before reviews came out, but sounds like legs won’t be very good

Yep. It'll open somewhere in the 60s and get like a 2.5-2.6x. Still enough to beat Split, but it may not be enough to become Blumhouse's #1 film.

Good thing there's another movie two months later to counteract glASS' disappointment

Blumhouse's next superhero film - Todd McFarlane's Spawn - sounds like an absolute dud, so this should still be a W in their books

Reading the reviews makes me think this will have a horrible Cinemascore and word of mouth because every review is saying the trailer is a bait and switch.

So when everyone thought the trailers were spoiling the whole movie they actually weren’t or...?

Apparently

all the action in the trailer is the first 5 minutes, then it's basically therapy sessions till the final action scene and it's all set in the hospital

Is it a spoilery review? Also, Letterboxd is much more positive right now, still dividing, but positive. Interesting that several positive to very positive reviews say they knew the film would be received this way.

Also, I don't seem how the trailers seem to be deceiving, we kinda intuited that one specific location would be the bulk of the film. And with a 20 million budget (financed by Night himself), it was always going to be smaller scale obviously than what you'd get in what you see out there

No, it isn't spoilery. At least I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Just basic plot details and vague at best information about the narrative itself. The critics delved more into what kind of storytelling instruments were used to tell its story, whether or not is it more in line with Unbreakable or Split and their general feelings on the choices taken (again, no spoilers).

Nah, thinking it'll open somewhere around 50 (still not sure if that's 3-day or 4-day) and will finish barely above 100. Book it.

RT score would be at least double what it is if they had gotten JNH back to score.

Its very weird. The movie is going to make money and overall not cost that much, so they can’t whip out the cash needed to get JNH back whose collaborations with Shayamalan are known to be a huge highlight of both their careers? Cheapskates
