The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

FWIW White Boy Rick is selling better on Friday than The Predator is as well. Already 1/3 sold in a 121 seater for the 7:30 show. Also selling better for the prime showtimes the same day at other theaters as well. Reaching the high end of its $8-10M tracking is looking likely.

Pulse:

1. The Nun

2. The Predator

3. A Simple Favor

4. Crazy Rich Asians

5. White Boy Rick

Thinking this is doing $10M+ now with how well it's selling. Sony actually did a solid job promoting it despite the mixed reviews. The trailer (which I've seen a lot the past few months) especially was a terrific piece of marketing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if audiences really enjoy it. Even with the movie’s flaws, reviews make it seem like a crowdpleaser

What was the top 5?

On the Canada site, Predator is #1 right now.

The Canada one works for me.

The US one still has The Nun, Peppermint, CRA, Searching and C/o Kancharapalem with the same exact percentages.

However yesterday box office report said both ASF and Predator entered the US top five and I don't know how they know that if the website is frozen.

The Website seems to be frozen, but you can see the percentages on the App, if you download it.

I see:

1. The Nun - 17.4%

2. Crazy Rich Asians - 9.3%

3. A Simple Favor - 9.1%

4. The Predator - 7.9%

5. Peppermint - 6.4%

Not sure if that's just me, or the same for everyone.

I don't have the app but now I know how Box office report knew when ASF and Predator entered. But yes my website version is version. Thanks for this though!

A Simple Favor has been outselling The Predator for the majority of the day today on Fandango. Take that for what you will.

Predator had 2 different big Atom deals...so buyers could be prebuying through Atom over Fandango...but I still agree that it looks good for A Simple Favor or not so good for Predator...

Presales for Predator

Atom theater (Regal local - normally the good male demo one) - 34/90, 12/90 for 46/180

Non-Atom theater (Cinemark local) - 20/185, 2/185 for 22/370

It would be interesting to see an AMC theater b/c I see this one as a subscription type movie (or a cheap ticket movie)...the Atom theater (with the $4 and $6 deals) is more than double the non-Atom one...I'm betting this will be more feast or famine than might be expected...

PS - I might try to get the other openers, but I'm really busy today:)...

My personal theater is so dumb. They waited until late yesterday to post showtimes for The Predator and ASF for Thursday Night and the sales are TRAGIC. Meanwhile at the other theaters in the area for Thursday Night, The Predator is selling very nicely (as I mentioned before) and ASF is doing okay

But imagine being that stupid. The Predator has sold a whopping 5 tickets for tonight and ASF has sold a fantastic 4 tickets for tonight. Bunch of dumbasses.

:hahaha:

Another theater close to my hometown did that, too. I cannot understand why these theaters like to wait until the 11th hour to do this. #BoyBye to them.
