What tragic numbers. It's not even just your theater. My theaters are dead for these 3 films. Dark Tower has sold 40 tickets total. Detroit has sold 5 tickets total. And kidnap has sold 2 tickets total. This theater is usually jam packed for new openers regardless. Its a very very popular theater in the area so these numbers are not good at all.

I would not not be shocked if all three are sub $15M openers with the last 2 being sub $10M.

The Dark Tower is selling on par or slightly better than Atomic Blonde, so that's good.

The fact that I am the only one who has a ticket for Detroit tomorrow is fucking pathetic. This is gonna bomb.

The Lion King? I guess that won't show up on the weekend top at BOM.

It's an AMC-only thing. Starting in September, they're going to be rereleasing 5 princess films for a week each.

Detroit just missed the marketing mark I think...the trailers I've seen prior to movies seemed like you were gonna leave angry or icky after watching it, and it was gonna be an unpleasant, dark, depressing and even uncomfortable experience from start to finish...it doesn't help that the characters seemed to be mostly stereotypes in the trailers, with no one really being held up as someone for the audience to grasp onto, good or bad...

This was one I had initial interest, but when I found out more on the movie through follow-on trailers, I said pass for theatrical viewing (ala Rough Night)...I think I'll actually enjoy this more in a solo, home viewing environment, which is my current plan...and I suspect many folks may feel the same way...
