The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

I don't know but it feels like Justice League has more hype than BvS. BvS kind of killed interest with its weak final trailers, that showed too much of the ugly (Doomsday) and annoying (Lex Luther) villains. Not to mention it had a Batman we weren't invested in at all. Justice League seems to be hitting the right notes

BvS had huge hype until they sabotaged their own movie with the Doomsday trailer, ugh! Then reviews killed the movie. JL is being greeted with skepticism but I think we will either see good legs with a good OW or a very deflated OW with WW like legs, if well received.

Yeah because I literally mean 4x multiplier

Get real

You're deluding yourself if you think this is gonna get a 4x multi even with great 90+ reviews. Big superhero openers like these generally have short legs.

Except for the Avengers which managed a 3x multi all other big openers have had low multi ranging from AoU's 2.4 to BvS's 1.99

Other huge openers like CF managed a 2.5 multi whereas JW had a 3.1 multi. The closest huge opener that came close to 4 was TFA with 3.77 and that had christmas and holidays help.

This will land somewhere around 2.5 which is good enough

GA may still have a stigma, more fanboy oriented so more frontloaded.

No internet has stigma(this thread also comes under that).

How people here are barely distinguishing between poor/ok/good multiplier for this is beyond me.

The bare minimum for BvS is not likely for JL. A historically frontloaded, terribly received and reviled movie?

Okay.

Frontloaded but that started from one of the biggest OD ever because of year's of hype and first time having those character together, a magic that maybe JL will not reproduce.

81.56m opening day was a really special start BvS started from, only the last Potter, Awaken, Ultron, Jurassic World are above that mark all being some form or close too all time opening weekend breaker.

Good Friday helped that out though too.

Anyways, the hype and build up for JL isn't the same as it was for BvS.  Team Up movies seem to also have diminishing returns and hard ceilings that lower each movie.

Yeah, still doesn't mean JL will only do BvS numbers.

Sure, no one known how much JL will do, but BvS is not an easy movie to beat, and sequel of big box office number like those have an hard time augmenting, going over BvS would be good for JL.

It is a movie in the situation that can do it and has a good chance to do it, because of the exceptional factor of a spin off from BvS, Wonder Woman doing really well, some added characther and (that is rare) a good chance of being better than the previous entry. But it is not an automatic, BvS hype was specially huge.

good.  that is the way it should be.

Seems like these theaters jumped the gun. AMCs not loading it.  I think it wasn't supposed to until after trailer in an hour or so (halftime Monday night football).  It'll speed up further when the rest get going
