If Pirates crashes spectacularly, I have to imagine WB will be having second thoughts about Depp being in their Fantastic Beasts movies.

Universal is gonna be nervousing too about their monster universe. The rumors are that he signed onto these franchises because he's in financial trouble.

If The Mummy flops then that whole universe plan goes kaput either way.

It's a supporting role so it won't affect the films

They need to ensure the movies do well before promising a universe/sequels

Ah got ya. I take Pro with a mountain of salt. I also don't trust Fandango source at all since Warner Bros own them. Anything official that Deadline or HR or Variety picked up?

Presales numbers are from our own bot source, one whom deadline, variety asks for information.

Tracking generally does not give numbers. NRG tracking only posts awarness, definite interest and first choice from which sites extrapolate numbers. Those tracking are used by studios for final marketing pushes.

There used to be RS tracking(which was generally a joke) and MTC(If I am not wrong that is Regal). But that is also driven by polling as ticket sales dont start by that time.

It doesn't matter, they have 'franchise viagra' Jude Law as Dumbledore.

"People will like what we tell them to like!" - today's studio execs.

I think that is less true than ever, the you cannot buy a first weekend is the current consensus (and for a long time) that why they are stressed so much and give people sequel/stuff proved to work with them so much.
