As long as they want to keep working with him, they will leave it the hell alone if he wants them to leave it the hell alone. Otherwise I'm pretty sure his buddy Alan Horn at Disney would love to add him to their stable.

He also has to keep producing results in fairness.

Why would Nolan make another CBM when he's made arguably the greatest CBM of all time?

It just seems unecessary when his film is considered the pinnacle of comic book films and his trilogy is also one of the best if not the best.

Question: Considering a 45% drop, can GV2 leg it out to $400M?

It had almost same drop and same collections as AOU for the same weekend. Their daily box office too has aligned by now. If gotg2 follows AOU exactly from now it will make 390.

Given that gotg2's legs as well as its WoW drops so far have been better than AOU, it can make more than 390.

So yes 400 is not out of reach but will be difficult. I would wait until we get more concrete weekend numbers coz that 11.5m weekend number for guardians seems too good to be true.

You know what's a good challenge...a Bond movie. Nolan will make a great one and then it will become a Bond template for the next decade.

Realistically speaking, what total worldwide gross would encourage WB to greenlight a WW sequel? I am scared... :-(

This is the Nolan thread. Take your weekend box office talk elsewhere...

Regardless of what you think about these numbers and whether it's a flop or not, this isn't the breakout of the summer many wanted and expected it to be. This begs the question: what will be the surprise hit of the summer, and could it come from this month?

I don't think there will be a surprise hit this summer tbh.

Christopher Nolan is like Joss Whedon, very at ease with female characters and humor.

You think so? Nolan's huge weakness imo is that he doesn't know how to write an interesting female character to save his life.

He made one -- it was called INCEPTION.

And then just for good measure, Mendes made a Nolan Bond as well -- SKYFALL.

:)
