The movie is 13 months away, and can't be far from principal photography finishing. Why would that be a problem?

Principle photograthy won't be finished until end of December and that it the shortest part of making an action blockbuster.

VFX quality is directly proportional to the amount of time spent on it.

WB/DC is one of the only studios that generally takes almost 12 months of post production. Most other studios do it in 6-10 months.

There are already elements of the film IN POST. Like, they don't just wait until it's all done to start working. They're going to have almost 11 months after principal to get it done. You'd have to have no knowledge of the film industry to think that's not enough time.

Batman Begins 2005

The Dark Night 2008

The Dark Night Rises 2012

Its not about how long they are spending, its about how long they should be spending to make a good movie.

Minimum 3, preferably 4 years between movies.

Less than that and they have compromised somewhere in the process.

Considering Nolan made The Prestige and Inception during that time frame... that a really strange metric.

So you think it should take 2-3 years to write a movie? That's not how it works mate.

and that's why we don't get TDK quality movies any more.

Quote

“That’s a privilege and a luxury that filmmakers aren’t afforded anymore. I think it was the last time that anyone was able to say to a studio, ‘I might do another one, but it will be four years’. There’s too much pressure on release schedules to let people do that now but creatively it’s a huge advantage. We had the privilege and advantage to develop as people and as storytellers and then bring the family back together,” Nolan explained.

Having said that, the long shooting schedule gives me hope that this is going to be more character and practical effects/stunt driven that a VFX overload.

@AndyK you just gonna ignore this?

He did address it by that Nolan quote, even too that big time period between movie was not dedicated into developing the next Batman one it was for the best (to have something to say with those character):

We had the privilege and advantage to develop as people and as storytellers and then bring the family back together

That could make some sense, but that was not what the conversation seemed to be about when the talk was about having enough time to finish the movie.

IDK 3 years are just so damn much of a wait...but the original was a filn that made m9st of its money by showing legs and now it won't have to face the SW/Frozen,the overload of GA friendly films in 2019 or being the 3rd female SH film in the same year.
