Well, all of this is just personal, of course. The first week of TFA was pretty crazy to watch. After that -- like AVATAR -- it was so big it wasn't quite as interesting. For me, at least.

I think just how otherworldly the numbers it was pulling made it interesting for me.  It was crazy to see weeklies where each day was the size of OWs.

Also, for whatever reason, I follow Grace Randolph's box office show, and her comments on Wonder Woman's 3rd weekend hold?

"It's good, but Gal Gadot's "Your wife/My wife" shirt sucks, and... it's not that impressive because The Dark Knight had a high 3rd weekend number and was almost at 400M while WW is under 300".

Did anyone tell her that Wonder Woman opened to 60 fucking million less than The Dark Knight as well? I don't think so.

She is consistently underselling Wonder Woman's holds for some reason. WW fell a cumulative 60% in 2 weekends compared to most movies falling that much on their second weekend. Really stupid comparison for sure.

Oh for sure. I think another thing that takes it down a notch for me is that it was expected -- sure, we've never seen a couple of weeks like that, but a large majority of people expected it to set all sorts of records, so while it was cool and amazing that it did, it wasn't out of nowhere.

Zootopia's run was incredibly fun imo. I remember all the discussions about how close it will come to BVS or how TJB will affect it legs...went over BVS by 10m and survived TJB pretty damn well.

75 ow / 4.55x / 341.3

Even for an animation, 4.55x is amazing in this day and age. IO was 3.96x. PETS was 3.57x

After the ow, Zootopia and IO added the same amounts:

Zootopia   75.06 ow + 266.24 more = 341.3 dom

Inside Out 90.44 ow + 266.02 more = 356.46 dom

I apologize, got a little ahead of myself there. Though I do get passionate when I see people who think they have a Goddamn idea of what they're talking about, and then they don't, but yeah, once again, I'm sorry. :)

Echo everything here. She's undermining her feats cause "WW ain't breaking records beyond female-led action movies", while completely ignoring how unprecedented it is for a massive comic book movie post-2011 (when the wave of CB movies really began to get heated) in the month of June having these kind of drops on a weekend basis, or the fact that WW had to single-handedly lift the weight of Man Of Steel/BVS/Suicide Squad, while TDK was coming off of the beloved Batman Begins and a gargantuan marketing campaign (not to make TDK less impressive, obviously not, but it's just not a fair comparision at all). But whatever.

I didn't follow that run. I was checking how high civil war is on worldwide list and color me surprised, zootopia did $1 billion. Same happen with frozen when it beat iron man 3.

LOL Grace R is so odd. She rooted for WW up until it opened, then it did, sje said she loved...but week after week she has done the same thing on her BO recaps: pretty much every week she says, ”it’s doing ok, but...”  It’s amusing.

I started following box office in 2009 after watching tdk. I was very happy that it did so wonderfully. I am more of a worldwide box office fan, so avatar's run is my favorite.

Also I love unexpected success more than expected record breakers, so pretty light on tfa. Loved deadpool run. Frozen, zootopia are among my favorites.

From this year, started following domestic performances.

Due to THABOS, got into history of box office too.

I continue to be shocked by Pets making almost 370M. Especially if you look at the weekend holds and see that it never had any hold you would call "extraordinary" compared to a Zootopia or an Inside Out. Most of its holds are more than 35%, and it fell 51% and 42% in its first 2 weekends. It just had a ridiculously long tail post August.

I'm absolutely convinced that she has an underdog complex. Always rooting for films that nobody likes, and then not rooting for films that everybody likes (w/a few rare exceptions here or there).

I mean, when you like/love Fant4stic, Pixels, Fifty Shades Of Grey, (even though I don't mind it) Batman V Superman, etc., and then go on to slam Inside Out, Gravity, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Frozen, etc., you do kinda have a bit of a complex going on, now don't you? Granted, opinions are opinions and everybody is rightfully allowed to have theirs, but I find it very odd that she has all of these ridiculous opinions and then stands by them as if everyone offends her when they're in disagreement - like this kid that she indirectly called "a puppet of critics" when he told her that he liked The Revenant, or how she literally started the stupid fiasco of how BVS haters were on Marvel's payroll (I'm getting mine to praise Homecoming next week ).

And now this w/Wonder Woman, after she went out of her way to say "it was one of the best movies I've ever seen"... I mean, this all makes it sound like I care more than I should, and I do begrudgingly follow Grace as I find her channel informative (sometimes at least) and her opinions... unique. But this Wonder Woman box office thing is especially weird.

My favorite run to follow was for Deathly Hallows Part 2. Maybe because it was the run that got me into following BO. I can quote you the entire article for the wordwide OW written by Ray Subers on BOM. That DH2 'outpaced even the most generous prognostications' line is my favorite from any article ever written on BOM. Weird, but oh well...

Grace is trying to hard to be a "centrist" and "impartial".

Its okay to root for a movie. Its okay to highlight the importance of WW sucess to hollywood and how that will shape the optics of movie studios exec.

There is no need to keep pandering to MRA. Which what I think she is doing.

"Backlash" / "Alan Heinberg is not getting enough credit" / Steve Trevor was a co-lead

MoS, with worse holds, and similar competition made 83M more after a 41M weekend. Just matching MoS from this point forward till the end gets WW to 360M.

-49.8%

-45%

-58.7%

-58.8%

-37.7% (1st week-end of August)

Summer weekdays really saved that movie

---------

360+ is a done deal. No way Wonder Woman is following these drops. I'd actually just subtract like 10% from each of those and that would be a pretty good indicator of the week-end drops to come for WW

-61.4% Apes

-58.8% Dunkirk

-37.7% Emoji?

Regarding Grace Randolph... Silly comment by anyone who remotely diminishes Wonder Woman's longevity at this point. But, I'd argue with anyone that the Dark Knight and Avengers were, well, much more impressive. Avengers made more AFTER it's bonkers OW than Wonder Woman will make it's entire run DOM. And, yeah, that was 5. Dark Knight made nearly what Wonder Woman will make it's entire run DOM after it's OW. And, yeah, that was almost a decade ago. Who knows? Maybe Wonder Woman's got that bonkers legs to $550M+ DOM? Otherwise, those seemed like mega phenomenon. This is not Batman '89, Spider-man '02, Spider-man 2 '04, Dark Knight '08 or Avengers '12. Until it legs it out to $500M+, those were just, well, a lot bigger with many, many more admissions. That's just CBM though. Jurassic World had a 3.0+ multiplier off of an OW just under $210M. Yeah, again, made more AFTER it's OW than Wonder Woman will make it's entire run.

To me, this is more like Frozen. Incredible, awesome, nutso legs. Very well liked. And, I should say more like Frozen DOM 'cause it ain't touching it WW. Let's not forget Beauty and the Beast just had a near 3.0 multiplier off a friggin' $175M OW DOM. There have been some crazy, impressive things from recent blockbusters. I won't even include the Force Awakens or Rogue One either.

Guess we are talking about favorite or most memorable runs now :P  I have a ton, but basically they are few and far between any more.  Probably the most "recent" ones were Ep VII and before that Titanic.  Anything in between was ok, but nothing that made me care, or at least, from what I can recall :P

I love Grace, I really do. There's no other reviewer I respect more. But her BO reports are shit. And I am not talking about WW. She simply does not hate enough knowledge about how this industry works to make accurate videos.
