THE BOSS BABY

Domestic Box Office $172,547,772
International Box Office   $318,228,045
Worldwide Box Office $490,775,817

BB has a very good shot finishing above CARS3 WW (DOM is a done deal already).

depends. Cars 3 has more favorable release dates overseas  (after DM3 in many countries) and also a China release

Surprised The Mummy didn't drop even more given that Sunday bump.

It's a pretty standard drop, I would say, looking at past films that increased on Father's Day Sunday:

The Mummy: -70.6% (after increasing 1.4% on Sunday)

Civil War: -66.2% (after increasing 4.4% on Sunday)

San Andreas: -70.5% (after increasing 1.3% on Sunday)

Mad Max: Fury Road: -68.5% (after increasing 8.8% on Sunday)

Avengers: Age of Ultron: -69.6% (after increasing 2.9% on Sunday)

Godzilla: -68.6% (after increase 0.9% on Sunday)

Iron Man 3: -71.7% (after increasing 9.5% on Sunday)

Peace,

Mike

I will never understand how The Boss Baby performed as well as it did. The trailer was pure garbage. The lack of kid-friendly animated competition is the only thing that comes to mind. Maybe I just need to find a balcony seat alongside Statler and Waldorf.

A drop of 70% for WW wouldn't surprise me but 75% seems kinda high.

Granted, if it had a Sunday hold like last week and had a similar Monday drop, that'd put it slightly above 4M. So, in theory their estimates may not be too far off. 3.5 just sounds too low tho.

Do studios hold off releasing numbers if they are lower than they'd like in the hopes they can get all the receipt totals in and boost the number?

It's (probably) more a case of how soon theaters report in. We tend to imagine it as this amazing, near-real time, perfectly accurate system of accounting, and while people with access to RenTrak can check "live" numbers as they're coming in, it's still just an estimate since not all theaters report live. The real world is just messy and filled with stupid silly things that can delay everything.

Logan will finish ~1m above F8.

Wolverine movie had better legs than F8 ^_^

Multi was 2.40-2.45x for F5,6,7. For F8 it's gonna be ~2.28x.

2.56x for Logan.

F8 OS makes all this moot, but still interesting.

I haven't followed those movies closely, so I'm absolutely shocked at this.
