A family movie is not dropping 55% after opening weekend.  I can guarantee that.

Cars2 dropped 60% albeit with crappy wom.

Summer weekdays take away some dough so 55% for a three-quel, even animation, is not impossible.

But yeah, probably closer to 50%.

When we saw Guardians there was a child around 10 being very loud and his parents apologized to everyone in the area and said that he was on the spectrum and was really excited to see this movie. Not saying at all that's what happened to Han but that is definitely not the first time that happened to me. Those kids deserve to see appropriate movies, too, so you have to find a way to balance being respectful with enjoying what you paid for. You never know people's situations.

Thank you for posting this.

My older son is autistic and not a day goes by where he doesn't have some kind of meltdown, wether at home or in public. We try our best to always sit in the last row of the theatre and always go see movies at either 10am or before noon in hopes of having less people in the theatre with us.

All I can to add to what has already been stated is a little compassion can go a long way, especially to a family like mine. We all try our best but we can't just keep the kids hidden away at home.

@Ethan Hunt you're 18 and still in high school, which provides you with good connections even over the summer. I'm 17, never went to high school in person, and am stuck with community college which has next to no social life. My situation is much different than yours because you can actually do stuff.

Speaking of children at theaters. My worst experience was during my showing of Iron Man 3. I saw an evening show with my friend.  I would say 70% of the audience was a family with kids.  The whole movie kids were running around, yelling to their friends across the theater. I never saw anything like it. It felt like 80 people got together planned on seeing the movie at the same time. They all knew each. I understand parents bringing their kids to the movies. But for a PG-13 movie bring your child to an afternoon showing not a Friday night evening showing. I did anything to anyone since my row was fine and I never like to speak up for myself.  For a kids movie, I usually try to go to a 10PM showing. Kids can have a hard time controlling their voices they are just learning how to behave in public and not realize that they disturbing movies for others

Have you seen Power Rangers? I thought it was absolutely wonderful to show a character on the spectrum being a superhero. it's honestly moving. My older brother is on the spectrum and my mom is associated with several groups for local families who have children with different mental and physical disabilities so I've been around my brother and loads of other kids in similar situations my entire life

There are clubs at the community college. Talk to your school counselor they might have clubs or some activities that they might know something that can interest you.

Honestly, I've never experienced many problems with kids at all in theatres. When I saw Ratatouille, there were kids running up and down the aisles and that bothered me a lot at the time. I didn't say anything but the least you can do is try to keep your kids seated. The theater was empty and the parents just didn't seem to care. But, honestly, that's the only really bad experience I've had.

Teenagers on the other hand can be the fucking worst. Have you ever seen a PG-13 rated horror movie OD? I never do anymore because the teenagers in the audience so often get ridiculously out of hand.

We haven't seen it yet but were planning on it this weekend actually. Thanks for the insight.

Agree! I'll put up with kids way before I'll put up with teenagers. These days I can't encounter any of them without wanting to punch them because they all act like such imbeciles. They run things everywhere they are and it shows.

I know that some movie theaters schedule specific screenings for people on the spectrum or other sensory issues. The sound isn't turned all the way up and the house lights don't dim completely. I like that those accommodations exist. But I also know that such screenings aren't always available or convenient. When I see families like that, I often wonder if there will be a disruption or not. Most of the time, there isn't, but even if there is... they have a right to buy a ticket and see a movie, the same as me.
