this movie is one of those ones that has a bunch of great character actors come in for small roles and steal it for five minutes. obviously it's mainly the chastain show and she's the best but bill camp and chris o'dowd are a lot of fun when they show up too.

Brian D'arcy James who played Bad Brad was great as well.

So I wonder who was the main bait to Molly's game, Leo, Ben or Tobey ?

:sherlock:

Tobey.  He is a top level pro cash player.  Like he has won millions level even against pros.  Ben is a very good amateur.  Tobey is also the one that is responsible for all the a--hole behavior allegedly.

i have no idea what's happening in the poker scenes in casino royale, but somebody told me they're complete nonsense anyway so idk.

Pretty much.  They are Hollywood hands in that the highlighted hands are full of drama that is extremely rare in the real world.   The last hand in the movie would almost never happen not just because getting a flush, two full houses and then a straight flush is extremely rare but because most of those hands where junk and would have never been played even short-handed.

Now the bigger issue for me at least was when the movie tried to act like Bond was reckless and Vesper was being an adult keeping the money from our hero.  First Bonds hand there was the second best hand possible with that board (IIRC).  So who cares if he can read his opponent or not with a hand that good your only thought is how much can I bet to make the most money possible from this hand.  It just turned out the villain had the only hand that could beat Bond.  That is bad luck.  There is not a pro on Earth that is good enough to lay down the hand Bond had and if they did even if they where right this 1 single time they would still be wrong because for this one correct call they will be wrong and give away money probably 50 times maybe even more.

btw michael cera is great in this. sorkin oughta write him a full vehicle.

Yeah, he was incredible in this. If he was supposed to be Tobey, I would have never known. The dialogue about why he plays makes him out to be a nasty human being.

Cera seem to one of those actors who shines in supporting roles but have problems carrying a film by themselves.
