going wide on Dec. 22 now:

So that's 5 wide releases for Christmas weekend now (Jumanji, All the Money..., Downsizing, Pitch Perfect 3, The Greatest Showman), on top of a possible wide expansion or two (The Shape of Water and Darkest Hour, in all likelihood). That's manageable.

Darkest Hour would be wise to go wide on Dec 8. Be the only quality adult drama playing wide until Christmas (except for Murder on Orient Express but that'll be a month old at that point).

They'll probably expand it wider around Christmas so it doesn't get pushed out.

You forgot the biggest of them all:

btw I think Darkest Hour is going wide December 8; the local independent chain has it releasing then

I honestly keep forgetting that movie's existence. Understandable considering how long it's been shelved.

This is what I'm guessing my 12 screener has over Christmas:

Star Wars x3

Pitch Perfect x2

All the Money in the World

Downsizing

Father Figures

Greatest Showman

Jumanji

Ferdinand

Coco/Darkest Hour/Disaster Artist (pick either one or both of the last ones to share that screen with Coco)

Sony can basically kiss goodbye to secondary screens for Jumanji because theaters need the capacity for Star Wars.
