Ezen Baklattan
@CayomMagazine Following abysmal box office returns, XJ9's planned sequels are highly likely to be shelved. "We are disappointed by the results but will he able to move forward in different creative directions," Hourglass CEO Michelle Haywood stated. However, Haywood also received a mysterious threat from a "Pebastian Seters" about how Bex Taylor-Klaus still needs a big role from them. Hourglass will see what they can do. Rorschach
@Cayom Magazine Lager Pictures Animation is ramping up in preparation for their next major animated film Star Reaper, an exciting new entry into the ever-growing and insanely popular space opera genre that has dominated at the box office over the past half-decade. The studio has tapped Dave Filoni (Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars) to helm the film. Shinichirō Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop fame has signed on to produce and assist in writing the film. Also signing onto the film is a large ensemble of voice actors who will make up the bulk of the main cast: Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive, HBO’s The Leftovers, Spark: A Hero's Promise) Dakota Johnson (Bad Times at the El Royale, The Peanut Butter Falcon) Billy Magnussen (Game Night, The Odyssey: The Spoils of War) Morena Baccarin (Fox’s Firefly and Gotham, Voicemail) Karl Urban (the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Dredd, Borrasca) Ana De Armas (Blade Runner 2049, Pillars of Eternity, XJ-9: Rebirth) Rosa Salazar (Amazon’s Undone, Alita: Battle Angel, Bambi: A Life in the Woods) Nathalie Emmanuel (HBO’s Game of Thrones, Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) John David Washington (HBO’s Ballers, BlacKkKlansman) Aidan Turner (The Hobbit trilogy, Bambi: A Life in the Woods) Jack Dylan Grazer (IT, Shazam!) Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children, Watchmen, Alita: Battle Angel) Jason Ritter (Disney’s Gravity Falls, HBO’s The Tale, Gateways) Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin, Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast) Steve Blum (Cowboy Bebop, Disney’s Star Wars Rebels) with Tim Roth (Pulp Fiction, Rob Roy, Luce) and F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus, Showtime’s Homeland, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World) The studio has described the film as a space western of sorts but one that will pull influence from many different genres as well. Filoni cited series such as Dragon Ball Z, Watanabe’s own Cowboy Bebop, Guardians of the Galaxy, the original Indiana Jones trilogy, and Pirates of the Caribbean as major influences in the creation of the film. The plot of the film is described as follows: Quote A mysterious but powerful alien socialite offers a great reward to any individual that can retrieve an ancient treasure from one of the most deadly, hazardous planets in the known galaxy. Thirteen colorful and volatile individuals, all from different backgrounds and planets alike, are the only ones who brave enough to answer the call. Despite their differences, the participants realize that, through the dangerous conditions, they must all begrudgingly come together in order to achieve their chance at a greater glory. Star Reaper will mark the fourth animated film for Lager Pictures Animation, whose credits include Anthem (Y2), Fantasia: The Next Dimension (Y5), and the upcoming half live-action/half 3-D animation hybrid The Rescuers: Burden of Dreams (Y7). Despite an Oscar nomination for Fantasia, both it and Anthem ended up losing money for Lager Pictures. Still, the studio is confident that Rescuers and Star Reaper will mark a major shift for the company going forward. Star Reaper is scheduled for release in November Y8 in 3D and tentatively plans to aim for an IMAX release, though that will be confirmed when the film approaches closer to release.
