Wonder Woman just keeps on chugging, and has achieved the fourth best multiplier of any $70+ million opener ever, passing Inside Out (3.942 vs 3.941).

Annaelle 2 outgrossing it's predecessor this weekend will be a great thing to happen. It's the rare sequel that will do so this summer.

Apart from WW and AS all those multipliers are from Animations or movies in December.

EDIT: not that it makes other films less creditable. Avatars 9.73x is insane no matter when. But worth a thought that WW and AS stand-out.

I am too lazy but wish we had a proper list of this. Just off the top of my head :

 

- F8, Alien:C, Cars3, POTC5, TF5, Apes3, DM3, Nut Job 2 reduced. SW8 should decrease too (understandable). 

 

- GOTG2, AB2 are two sequels that improved. Hoping that Kingsman2 increases.

 

Lego Bat is a spin-off so didn't include it. JL like TA also is not really a sequel (In fact at one point it was ,and may be still, could be JL1).

Kingsman increasing would be nice. Even if it's by 10 million I don't care.

WW should only be compared to other superhero movies released in the summer, stop pulling these Avatar companions out a crap pile to make WW look bad.

Actually Avatar's also has an "explanation" - it released during the east coast blizzard (from VA to NYC), so it's OW was likely held down, helping the back end multiplier...it still would have been insane, but not quite as insane as it became...

What's impressive about this list is that WW is the only non December or animated release on this list.

Being compared with freaking Avatar's box office run isn't a bad thing at all. Always appreciate MikeQ's insightful posts.

The comparison post was not trying to take anything away from Wonder Woman's run.

 

I do think the only people who are trying to downplay WW run are people who didn't like it and I find that to be silly because I've disliked plenty of movies that had great runs. I thought Avatar was mediocre but that doesn't mean it's legs weren't great. There is no way for me to pretend that it's run was anything but astonishing.

Well if you want to compare, I'd imagine WW compares better with movies that also opened over $100M OW.

Movies that opened much lower obviously have an unfair advantage over WW in terms of legs.

I agree. Personally I just like to compare Wonder Woman to other hundred million openers but that's just me.

It doesn't make WW look bad at all. Even with the Avatar comparison, the WW multiplier is still amazing. I would hope most people aren't insecure enough to think this way.

Alien & The House said goodbye yesterday. They were the only two that ended their runs. I'm still shocked fox still has Hidden Figures in theaters.
