shawshank is kind of the "plain white bread is my favourite food" pick. carrie is actually the best though.

So what? There's a reason for it being overchosen: because it's that damn fucking good. There's tons of people who would die for a simple piece of plain white bread and don't care about getting fancy.

:redcapes:

(Carrie IS great, I'll give you that. And I don't even like the novel. Sissy Spacek gives Chloe Moretz 100000000000000 to 0. Chloe was good in Kick-Ass tho)

How often is Deadline's initial Friday figure on the money or too high for big breakout films? It feels like they tend to be too conservative on anything that msjorly overshoots industry tracking. Even after we start getting actual numbers.

Misery

That one episode of Under the Dome I watched

The Dark Tower

Just found out Mike Flanagan is directing the Gerald's Game film for Netflix coming out this month; it is now on my radar :jeb!: @CJohn

I plan to see it when it comes out.

I want to say Thinner is the best King adaptation so I can get one of those "2016 Boffy Funniest Poster of the Year" comments

In terms of adaptations (i.e. translating/elevating the material), I would say Carrie is the best. The book is terrible (and I read King religiously as a teenager). De Palma & Lawrence Cohen cut out the Rashomon-trial bullshit, took the meat-and-bones of the story and amplified it. Thanks in no part to Sissy Spacek's wonderful performance.

Strictly as a film through and through, yeah I'd say The Shawshank Redemption is the best - our modern day It's a Wonderful Life.

My Kubrick hot take is that Clockwork Orange is obnoxious and hollow and easily my least favorite of his I've seen. I used to love it when I was a teenage misanthrope but watching it recently the strongest thing I felt was a headache.

No idea how IT will behave really. If Sat itself shows a down trend due to the hurricane, Sunday may show an ok drop because it will come off a bad Saturday. If Sat is strong, then chances of a bad Sunday increase imo. Even a 47-50% drop on Sunday could happen.

When it comes to Kubrick, The Shining is also my favourite. Full Metal Jackets first half is still perfection, but the second half drags for me. His other films like 2001, Barry Lyndon or Spartacus are all good to great but Shining is the only one that i really love.
