60.1 gives 218.8 dom

2x the weekend more gives 218.8 + 120.2 = 339.0 dom

would be a bit surprised if it did below that. 2x the 2nd weekend more is average/above average legs really.

Man of Steel ended its second Sunday with 210.1 after a 41.3 million weekend.  It would finish with 291 which is roughly 2x the 2nd weekend.

I don't know, I'm as far right conservative as they come, and imo, WW was a success in spite of the always annoying SJW's.

The movie wasn't political at all (closest thing was her PC group of friends that checked every diversity box) and didn't push the feminism angle as hard as something like ABC's TV show Agent Carter did.  They made that main character so unlikable that audiences gave up on the show.

Nah.

There was not a single amazon that could be perceived as 'fat,' for example.

As far as skin tones, that's how the DC amazons have been portrayed in comic book form since the eighties...black amazons, white ones, Asians, copper-skinned, and everything in between.

Spider-Man: Homecoming    Sony Pictures     $1,858,740     -7%     1,436 $1,294       $330,245,988

Went over BVS.

3m away from GOTG1. That's going down.

6.3m away from SM3. A bit tough innit? Needs another hold like this one. Also if Sony wants to get it over, then consider it done. I mean this is Sony (Spectre, Passengers).

It made 35,307,200 during weekdays last week.

It dropped roughly 45.3% from last weekend minus previews.

applying a 45.3% drop to the weekdays gives 19.67 million.  238.48 14-day total.

Perhaps it makes 31.52 in its third weekend leaving us with a 17-day total of 270 million.

2 movies open in 4,000 theaters this upcoming weekend and Friend Request opens in 3,000+.  If Spider-Man makes 1 million next weekend, its PTA is going to have to rise.

Yeah. Good chance it goes over Gravity's 274.09 dom this Sunday and takes the Fall Dom record. What a freaky run.

I think it might drop rougher than expected in its third weekend.  It should loose all premiums and IMAX.  It might still sell out, but with smaller capacity.

The Force Awakes had huge hype because of the whole SW returns thing, but the fact that half of TFA and RO grosses was in US actually says something. If it had been as popular overseas as in US, it would have grossed 2 billion overseas, judging by usual ratio. F&F is much more powerful franchise in terms of overseas grosses than SW. The Last Jedi will drop hard overseas, you'll see, it doesn't have TFA level of hype, not even close.

And Wonder Woman sequel won't increase overseas, maybe even drop. WW made 400+ mln in US because of MASSIVE propaganda by feminists and sjws everwhere, who made WW look like it's a much bigger event than it actually is. Overseas it grossed like any other average superhero movie, maybe even less, because other countries watched it as it is, just like any other genre movie, without all this social-political bullshit, and and they thought WW wasn't very good. You can even compare audience marks/reactions on foreign sites with US' and they are actually much lower in foreign sites than US. That's why it won't increase there, it simply wasn't very good. If you had replaced WW character with let's say Hawkeye and remove propaganda by feminists and sjws, it would have grosses more than 200 mln less in US and RT score would have been arount 40-50%, the score it trully deserves.

The thing is what she asks for this sort of film is typically WAY lower than what she asks for commercial fare.  That is why I doubt it. However, if it is in the news that much, it is reality as far as anything really matters, anyhow.

Here's probably my last post on mother! budget unless I get something definitive.  The media were all saying $13M until BOM just came out with $30M and now they are all saying that. Meanwhile Aronofsky has been talking about how cheap the movie was in a way that sounds to me a lot more like the $13M number.

Quote

Anyway, on to Mother! How the hell did you convince a studio to let you do this movie?
That’s a good question. It wasn’t too hard. It wasn’t such a hard thing to convince people to do. I imagine that probably has to do with the fact that we attached Jen Lawrence to it as a first move. And we made it for a very, very low amount of money. So I think that combination allows studios to take a risk. I think that if the price point makes sense, then there’s not much to lose. There’s not much downside. So I think that’s how they looked at it. I think they saw the genre elements that are there, even though they know that I don’t really play genre fairly — I kind of mix it up and stuff. And I think there was some concerns about the extremes of it. But I do think that studios and the people at studios do want to, every once in a while, do something different and roll the dice and try different stuff.

The interview is in Vulture, and I would post the link but it has major spoilers and I am not sure if I'm allowed to post article links with spoilers in the weekend thread.  You could google the text, though, if you want to find it.

Anyhow, I hope it's $13M because I'm glad they made this, but I don't see how they would have thought this divisive a movie would make a huge amount of money to begin with.
