I mean, who among the interested base hasn't seen The Last Jedi and written an extensive piece either praising or excoriating it by this point? ;)

Spoiler

Though honestly, as someone who felt that it was a stronger film than Force Awakens (slightly so - they both register with the A- mark in my book), it shames me somewhat that my theatrical view count places Force Awakens ahead of Last Jedi 3-2.

It still saddens me that Paramount had so little faith in Annihilation. It's not like their more commercial films have been lighting the box office ablaze - looking at you, Transformers 5 and your weak gross in the face of the glorious mess you were as a movie - so why not just bet on some audiences being able to embrace hard sci-fi from the guy who also wrote and directed Ex Machina?

Really annoyed, I'm going on holiday for a few days and get back Friday, so I'm gonna miss Gringo. Can't imagine it stays in cinemas more than 1 week and I haven't had the chance to see it this weekend :(

On the plus side, I think annihilation will be on Netflix when I get back

Didn't know where to put this, so I'm just gonna put it in here. Since 2016, I've been tracking the total numbers of every movie's performance in the DOM top 5 of each and every single weekend (for that matter, I've only tracked Fri-Sat-Sun numbers, no 4 or 5 day openings, but I have included Tuesday/Wednesday/whatever night previews just to make it more fair for the movies that didn't have Thursday night showings). For what reason? I dunno, for fun I guess? Anyway, here are the final results for the 2017 entries:

Was wondering if anyone had some advice on this

So at this point I feel so pathetic cause I keep switching around what I ''want to do'' for my degree. I know I don't want a career in sciences, but I love learning about it so I kind of want to get a BSc rather than a BA. I was always interested in the life sciences aspect, like biology/geology rather than the physics/math side of things. So I was thinking of doing an Earth Science/Biology combined major.

What would be the difference, going ahead, of just having a Biology major rather than a combined one. The biology degree doesn't have the intense math/physics requirements that the combined one does, and it also allows me to take so many other electives, which I could fill up with the Earth Science courses I would be interested in, because the only ones I wouldn't be able to take because of lack of pre-req's would be the 'Physics of Geology' etc and the ones I wouldn't really want to take in the degree anyway.

I'm considering just doing the biology major, and filling up my electives with the Earth Science courses that I would WANT to take, since the biology requirement is almost exactly the same as it would be in the combined. How much 'better' does a combined major look though, since it isn't a double major rather just a combined one.

I don't know how much employers would care about that aspect. It's still a biology degree with (presumably?) all of the major components.

Before I answer, what do you want to do with your degree?

I mean, there are a lot of fields where Bio-only is just fine - are you going Pre-Med?  Are you going pre-Vet?  Are you planning to teach?  Are you planning absolutely nothing close to science and just doing this b/c you like it?  Answers to these questions will help frame thoughts...

If you are clueless about post-grad career desires (except you don't want to be that researching scientist), then dropping down to a single major and picking up a minor in Earth Science is fine...you may also want to pick up another minor in a field of "usefulness" in an area you might want to go towards a career in:)...

My two cents is that unless you’re going into a specialized field, your undergrad degree doesn’t matter much.

P.S. You’re not pathetic for not knowing. Most people either don’t know when they’re going through this, or don’t care enough to consider meaningfully changing majors.

Rewatched The Florida Project in the theater yesterday, even better the second time. No longer ambivalent about the ending, it worked for me just fine this time, although the most powerful scene is still the last meal in the hotel, especially that cut from Moonee babbling about whatever comes into her head to Hallee just looking at her. Dafoe should play Jesus more often, there's no one better at it than him.

Yes it's a full biology degree. The only difference between the two is one is "just" a biology degree and the other is the combined Biology/Earth science. I still want to take the earth science courses, but if I do biology I can take the ones that have more biological adaptations as my electives rather than the "Geophysics" kind of ones that would be required in the combined degree

I really don't know, I don't think I want a career in sciences, unless I became a high school science teacher or something but I would really just be studying it because I enjoy it. It's something I'm interested in, you know?
