People always say that fellow superhero films are going to collapse whenever another superhero film opens but that is definitely not the standard. Many films held relatively well in face of huge openers of the same genre.

This. There have been plenty of examples in recent memory where CBMs dropped less than 55% against a new CBM (GOTG2, WW, CW, Deadpool, Ant-Man, etc)

Veteran's Day is on Saturday

Yes, but as a Federal Holiday it means a day off for most (what's with WI?) on Friday B)

https://publicholidays.us/veterans-day/

Veterans Day is a holiday held every 11 November to honor all military personnel who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Veterans Day falls on a Saturday in 2017, with most states observing it on the preceding Friday.

Year Date Day Holiday States
2017 10 Nov Fri Veterans Day Holiday National except MA, RI & WI
11 Nov Sat Veterans Day National except WI
13 Nov Mon Veterans Day Holiday RI

When any national holiday, like Veteran's Day or any holiday that falls on a weekend, the "holiday" or day off is always on a weekday before or after in lieu of the holiday falling on a Saturday which is a day off for most people. So for all intent and purposes the holiday is on Friday just like last year so movies should see similar boosts and falls

Usually only federal workers and bank employees are given a day off for Veterans Day. I'm sure that can have some bearing on the box office, but it doesn't have the impact of Independence Day, Memorial Day or Labor Day.

Some school districts are out. My son doesn't have school on Friday, for example.
