that wolf warrior 2's number has never been updated since early Sep, and exchange rate of yen fluctuated a lot over the course of 3 months of release in china.

If they used 6.7 yen to 1USD (1st two weeks of release, when the craze was out of control), the total for china will be around $848m

If they used the best, 6.48 to 1 as early Sep, the total will rise to $874m

If they used the ex.rate of the week when movie finishes its run, 6.65 : 1 on 29/10, the total then will be $854m

In this case, it seems that they use the favorable ex.rate to compute the WW2's OS total, lack of data here, but if we assume $854m as the final total, I wonder what countries then made up another $16m for that $870m

Who would have thought that a hobbit would beat Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman and Co in their home turf of the US....

I know, right? :D Who would have thought?

While BvS did beat the Hobbit-trilogy DOM-wise....it couldn't beat them WW-wise.

Domestic:

BvS = $330M

Hobbit: AUJ = $303M

Hobbit: DOS = $258M

Hobbit: BOTFA = $255M

Worldwide:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey = $1.021B

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug = $958M

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies = $956M

Bildresultat för the hobbit bilbo baggins gif

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice = $873M = Relaterad bild

What happened, Batman? Couldn't beat Bilbo Baggins at the worldwide box office?

It's kinda surprising that Wolf Warrior 2 hasn't been released in that many OS-markets released as of yet. I don't know much the other Asian markets (aside from China) will add to it's WW-gross. So far it's just 5 Non-US countries it has been released.

Did funny and colorful Justice League reach grimdark Batman v Superman's opening weekend numbers already?

Face the facts: that terrible grimdark movie is the reason JL is a flop.

before BVS a JL movie could’ve been Batman shitting on the toilet for 3 hours and it still could’ve done $190m OW.

Wolf Warrior 2 made money in China because it is a jingoistic China fuck yeah nationalist movie. It will bomb in South Korea and Japan.

It was also one hell of a fucking entertaining film.

That’s just hysterical.

Film couldn’t even live up to its predecessor  never mind win Best Picture

:hahaha:

Guardians 2 was funnier, better action, more heart, a better villian, etc.

I think it just depends on what family dynamics you're used to.

According to Deadline, Call Me by Your Name is projected to open with $380K this weekend (or a $95K average, beating Lady Bird for the biggest opening average so far this year). I hope it goes up.

Darkest Hour looking at $168K for the 3-day ($42K average) and $239K for the 5-day. That's decent.

Almost the same as Moonlight, at least. I think it can make more money in the long run thanks to being released closer to all the awards ceremonies, and a more accessible and openly emotional story. It should build some extremely strong WOM from initial audiences.
