He's just listing every film except Star Wars.  It's the latest hip thing to do at this site.  Shit on the film because it's only going to make it to the number 6 slot of all time.

Kudos to @baumer for calling a $35 million+ 3rd weekend for Jumanji. From a $36 million 3rd weekend, I'll predict: 27.5/35.5 ($289 million), 17 ($310 million), 11.5 ($326 million), 7 ($336 million), 3.5 ($341 million), 2/2.5 ($345 million), $350-355 million DOM range. Strangely, I might actually be lowballing its 4th, 5th and 6th weekend holds.

Insidious 4 is doing solidly. $50-55 million DOM is decent for the fourth installment in a dwindling franchise.

Last Jedi will finish just under Avengers. Only bad if you thought it would do what ESB and AOTC couldn't do in avoiding a 30%+ drop from the first installment of a new trilogy.

Utterly spectacular for Greatest Showman. Considering it has almost no awards buzz minus Best Original Song if "Remember Me" loses momentum, it's become a true WOM monster. Thinking 10.5/14.5 ($97 million), 6.5 ($105 million), 5 ($112 million), 3.5 ($117 million), 1.5 ($119 million), $120-125 million DOM range.

PP3 and Ferdinand both rebounded nicely. For PP3, I'm thinking 6/7.25 ($97 million), 2.5 ($100 million), 1.5 ($102 million), $105-108 million DOM range. For Ferdinand, I'm thinking 5.5/8 ($81 million), 3.5 ($85 million), 2.5 ($88 million), 1.5 ($90 million), $93-96 million DOM range.

MLK weekend should be interesting. Jumanji, Paddington 2 and The Post could all be in a three-way race for 1st place. I expect all three to do $25 million+ for the 4-day, with Last Jedi bringing in $15 million+ at a distant fourth place.

The fact that Jumanji has a shot at 350 is just mind blowing.  This is a film that many thought would tank.  Even the most robust predictions had it doing 150-200 at the most.

The Insidious number is another one I called right.  I'm on a mini roll.  Doesn't make up for all the bad calls I've had this year.  Like saying there was a chance that Justice League could open to 200 million.  :whosad:

I'm pretty trash at projecting these things, but 350 almost feels conservative. It's been holding better than NATM at every turn and if it keeps following that trend, who knows how high it can go. Crazy stuff.

Give me a break Baumer I was doing it before it was cool! Lol

Anyway I know we differ in opinion here and always have, I wish for Avatar and Titanic to stay the #1 and #2 highest grossers. To me the more top spots Jim holds and the longer the better his legacy. He is afterall my favourite director and is an incredible man, you know far more about Jim than most on BOT so you know what I'm talking about.

I guess in a way its like a football rivalary, my team is better than yours sorta deal.

In my opinion you're like golddust Baumer, wishing all films do well and never picking favourites. Respect for that by the way but it's just not me.

People on here are always dissappointed when X loses to Y or excited when thier film is going to make more than the film they don't like.

For me World Wide is everthing and Star Wars was the biggest threat to Avatar which is why I've enjoyed it's runs, for now they won't be capable until a gap and another reboot.

I'm only reporting facts Ironjimbo.  Did you or did you not list every film in the top ten, except SW?

I wasn't denying that! I just said I also made fun of star wars before it was cool (hipster joke).

Overall, this has been a great holiday Season.
A $625m movie, a $325m+ movie, two $100m-grossers with PP3 and The greatest Showman.

We won't see that in 2018, where Mary Poppins might do 200m+, but where Bumblebee, Aquaman and Spiderman all seem to look like they might not break out like we've seen it this year.

I doubted The Rock's status as "franchise Viagra" after Baywatch, I was so wrong... He is the last movie star, able to boost almost any struggling movie.

Disney knows what to do for Episode IX. :sparta:

Kevin Hart has been reliable at the bo, so big credit to him here too for Jumanji. Also as Juamnji is a wom monster, have heard (not seen the movie) that Black is one of the best parts of the movie. Not to take much away from DJ, he is very charming and has a great presence. Looking forward to Rampage.

PS: Karen makes the team perfect. In the promos at least, liked her kick-ass persona a lot.

You can't paint #56 all-time adjusted as a bad number. Not to mention it'll be well into the top 50 by the time its run is done.

TLJ's run has for sure been a bit of a bummer but it's still gonna have a fucking crazy high total. 600M is an absolute shit ton of money.
