Do audiences dislike Jessica Chastain?

She's really shrill on twitter and always bitching about politics and seems full of herself in interviews.

HOT take. I think audiences are indifferent to Chastain. She looks fantastic. She has red hair. That is the depth of the mass' comprehension of her.

Seem that DHL updated their number....they looked different

2nd Update, midday: More theaters are open in the Northeast following closures yesterday due to Winter Storm Grayson. So, it’s business as usual, and if it wasn’t, then most titles would be off their their tracking. Forty percent K-12 and 87% colleges were off today and total weekend ticket sales in the post New Year’s period is expected to rack up an estimated $159M, up 16% over the first weekend of 2017 a year ago. Not a bad start to 2018.

With audiences haven already taken in Disney/Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi anywhere from 2-4 times to a stateside cume that’s bound to reach $573.4M by Sunday, Episode VIII is now falling to third place with $24.4M and being beaten by both Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in first place with a stellar $35.8M third weekend, -29%, and Universal/Blumhouse’s fourthquel Insidious: The Last Key which is poised to make $25M in second. After Split ($40M opening),  The Devil Inside ($33.7M) and Mama ($28.4M), Insidious: The Last Key is bound to be the fourth best debut for a horror pic in January. RelishMix notices that the pic’s social media universe at close to 115M across Facebook,  Twitter, Instagram and YouTube is solid and 100% ahead of the total following for Blumhouse’s fall PG-13 pic Happy Death Day (which opened to $26M off a B CinemaScore).

36 FREAKING MILLION FOR JUMANJI?!!! DEADLINE BETTER NOT BE KIDDING.

THAT'S SAME AS THE OW. AND MLK 4-DAY TO FOLLOW NEXT WEEK.

Dec 22–24 2 $36,169,328 - 3,765 - $9,607 $52,775,295 1

COULD BEAT HOMECOMING AND TAKE #5 ON DOM CHARTS IF 35+ WEEKEND HAPPENS.

If SHOWMAN is even somewhere around that number, 120 looks very real.

Adding 2x the weekend more is average considering MLK 4-day is yet to come.

Adding 3x the weekend more is not that big a deal with good wom and that will give Showman 77.2 + 14.1*3 = 120.

Adding 4x the weekend is a big deal and that gives 135 dom challenging Wonder's eventual total.

I think SHOWMAN could be looking at 250+ north globally with 125 each dom and os while 300 ww is not unrealistic.

If it performed good during MLK, it could be the 1st movie in saturated release that still make more money in its 4th weekend than opening weekend

It's incredible how much of a 180 it's taken since the first five days. Matching the budget domestically was looking to be a challenge, but now it could hit 150% of that :ohmygod:

Jumanji is a fucking beast.  If that weekend number holds, that's a 0% drop,or even less.  That's just incredible!

Er, it made 50.1M last weekend; it's not flat

1. SWEET BABY JESUS THAT JUMANJI NUMBER. Screw Skyfall, Spider-Man 3's the new threshold to beat.

2. SWEET BABY JESUS THANK YOU FOR THAT WACK STAR WARS PREDICTION. My girl Daisy Ridley doesn't deserve this audience backlash, so going near $25M is A-OK in my book.

3. SWEET BABY JESUS THAT GREATEST SHOWMAN NUMBER. Someone on AwardsWatch mentioned that this is playing out a lot like Frozen (not in total gross obviously, but in terms of legginess and word of mouth), but this is doing even better. It's impressive as hell, and only shows just how amazing musicals can really do BO-wise when all the right elements are in place (Mamma Mia 2 will be the sleeper of the summer season, watch out!)
