  Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (SONY), 2,157 theaters (-156) / $656K Fri (-37%)/3-day: $3M (-32%)/Total:$397.5M/ Wk 12

Gringo (AMX/STX), 2,404 theaters  / $1M Fri  /3-day: $3M  /Wk 1

11..) The Hurricane Heist (EST), 2,402 theaters  / $900k Fri /3-day: $2.6M /Wk 1

Black Panther coming in just below Star Wars: The Force Awaken's $42.35 million. It would need a 34.5% or better to beat it. A Wrinkle In Time isn't doing well especially with a budget of over $100 million. Strangers: Prey at Night is doing about half the business of the 2008 original which is expected for a sequel that is coming out 10 years after the original. Gringo is doing abysmally as is The Hurricane Heist.

Sad for Wrinkle, but one step closer to the most weekends at #1 since Avatar for BP :jeb!:

It seems in today's movie business, 4 #1 wknds is the limit of what any movie can do. Avatar is the only post-2000 movie that did better than that, but Avatar is some kind of an outcast.

And out of total 32 movies in the history that had 5 and more #1 wknds, only 10 were from post-1990. It's clear to see the pattern here. Movies business has been getting more & more frontloaded.

I think it can get that 5th weekend win. I'm not expecting much from Tomb Raider. We'll see!

Might even gun for six if Pacific Rim megabombs and Gnomes does low teens.

So A Wrinkle in Time is essentially Tomorrowland 2.0, no one should really be surprised (except MovieMan, I guess). Strangers did alright all things considered. Gringo and The Hurricane Heist are expected flops. Anyone know how Thoroughbreds did?

Also, Peter Rabbit looking to drop less than 25% in the wake of new competition is extremely impressive. Goes to show that A Wrinkle in Time didn't really connect as a must-see option for families despite the Disney brand.

I just realised that in this weeks derby, I have the highest prediction of anybody for both BP and WIT... Either I'm onto something nobody else is or I'm shite at this prediction business B)

I think they are still off on the Wrinkle number.  I am guessing it will come in closer to $10.3m for Friday
