Why does the movie that got critical and audience trashing deserve success? It is a bad movie. Critics didn't like it, fans of the book didn't like it and previews were too unappealing to the uninitiated to check it out. It failed for a reason and it would have failed even if there wasn't the boxoffice phenomenon that catered to the similar audience and thus siphoned the viewers away.

Because it's a huge step forward (first film with a black female director to have a 100M budget, majority black/female cast) and, conceptually and stylistically, it's one of Disney's more interesting films.  It's not a rehash of one of their older animated films, it's them legitimately trying to do justice to a beloved source material.  Its heart was clearly in the right place.  And I didn't even like the film!

Pacific Rim Uprising is up there in the pantheon.

Your move Godzilla 2, show us what you got.

The last act of Pacific Rim Uprising was a dream come true, I think I shed a little tear of joy.

It hit all the marks whereas Roland failed me two years ago with IDR.

You want to see this set piece in a theater with very loud sound.

This  was so beautiful in every way.

Isle of Dogs is going to break out big time when it goes wide on April 13. It'll have a better PTA than The Disaster Artist in 8 more theaters, and Fox is probably pushing for 2,000+ theaters given the level of promotion it has and the lack of releases from them this summer. The movie is only staying in top markets until the 13th, which makes a 10M+ weekend even likelier when it goes wide.

Hollywood should invest 230m in a franchise/brand VFX movie and cast :

Liam Hemsworth

Scott Eastwood

Charlie Hunnam

Taylor Kitsch,

with a cameo from Dastan aka JG.

24m OW confirmed.

The Grand Budapest Hotel achieved a slightly smaller PTA in nearly twice as many theatres, and I think this’ll have less mainstream appeal.

It’s a good number, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

I think the film looks like ass but because I'm an SJW and a black chick who loves film I wanted it to succeed at the box office. I expected it would probably flop because Tomorrowland was the same sort of film and flopped hard. As long as Ava gets as many chances as white dudes this failure means little.

what do you mean? Avatar made $35m on this weekend if that helps.

It's amazing how you appear instantly when certain words come up in any thread ... and with certain words i mean Avatar. Do you have a radar or you live making search constantly in the forums?
