Its interesting to note this is having WAY better reception overseas than Black Panther and Civil War.

What do you mean? That is what I expected to happen. People have been waiting for this.

Most probably with that the enormous preview # - still there are degrees within that percentage and there are weekdays and there is that third w/e.

Even with the third weekend, it’ll drop around 45%-50%. And April-May weekdays although strong aren’t summer strong.

This weekend is getting better and better!

I still think OW record is in play.

with 105 od, nearly impossible imo.

using strong sat and sun holds (civil war was +22% sat and -30% sun)

76 (+15%)

64.5 (-15%)

= 245.5

Well, well...This is what IW would do following other Marvel's May openers multiplier. I'm using 105m Friday:

Avengers. Age of Ultron: 237.8m OW

Captain America. Civil War: 249.1m OW

Iron Man 3: 265.5m OW

OW record is very well in play. Cant see a lower internal multiplier than Age of Ultron or Civil War given the great buzz around  this time and the huge spillover  throughout the weekend. Huge midnights on the other side can be an issue to catch the record. 250m is happening imo.

I don't think the OW record is in play.  With a huge Friday, expect the Saturday to be a little muted...not much but instead of jumping 20%, I think it'll be more like 12%.

The difference is these films didn't blow off 105 million in demand in the first day.

From IMDB.

Worst score discrepancies in Marvel (US vs Overseas). Typically an average hollywood film will be -0.2/0.3

Inf. War 9.1/9.0 (-0.1)

Dr Str. 7.5/7.4 (-0.1)

IronMan3 7.2/7.1 (-0.1)

IronMan2 7.0/6.9 (-0.1)

Guardians2 7.8/7.6 (-0.2)

Ant Man 7.2/7.0 (-0.2)

Thor 2 7.1/6.9 (-0.2)

Thor 3 8.1/7.8 (-0.3)

Ultron 7.5/7.2 (-0.3)

Thor 7.2/6.9 (-0.3)

Hulk 7.0/6.7 (-0.3)

Avengers 8.3/7.9 (-0.4)

Guardians 8.3/7.9 (-0.4)

Iron Man 8.1/7.7 (-0.4)

Spider H. 7.7/7.3 (-0.4)

Black Panther 8.0/7.5 (-0.5)
Cap Ami 7.2/6.7 (-0.5)

Winter Sol 8.1/7.5 (-0.6)

Civil War 8.1/7.5 (-0.6)

Captain America franchise is the worst offender. Black Panther is also pretty bad. Huge surprise is Doctor Strange well and truly on top. The Thor franchise also fairs pretty well.

Oh i see. Given that even Civil War's mulitplier gives the OW record....it's nuts to think the certain bigger spillover over the weekend can allow it to match it. Right?

Deadline is saying $103 million today and pacing for a $237 million weekend. @baumer (didn't know if a mod or someone would want to see this)

Deadline is secondary to RTH.

I think you are being sarcastic, and that's fine.  But you are correct.  I don't think there will be enough there to get the record. If you look at TFA, it did such huge business on Friday that it "only increased" by about 9% on Saturday.
