I know there are some that are disappointed with Infinity War's second weekend gross, but I think it's second weekend drop is quite strong for the (highly anticipated) third film in a series coming off the largest opening weekend of all time in April/May. Could be an even slightly better drop with actuals.

Muted Friday increase + weaker than normal Saturday increase + better than expected Sunday drop?

This movie don't give a fuck what it does except fucking with us.

Wonder if Saturday was hurt by Cinco de Mayo celebrations.

Also, highest second weekend gross ever for a CBM, besting even Black Panther's godly second weekend gross/hold.

Look at the Avengers series - holding the 1st, 3rd and 4th best second weekend grosses for comic book films. Look also at the gap between Avengers and Age of Ultron. Infinity War's second weekend gross is exceptionally good - only it, Black Panther, and Avengers have hit $100+M, and nothing else is even close. Perhaps the Black Panther phenomenon has made us think Infinity War's second weekend gross is no big deal. I think it's a pretty big deal. :)

Best 2nd Weekends for Live Action Comic Book Movies

Title (Year) — 2nd Weekend Gross (Drop from Opening Weekend)

1. Avengers: Infinity War (2018) — 112.5 million (-56.4%)
2. Black Panther (2018) — 111.7 million (-44.7%)
3. Marvel’s The Avengers (2012) — 103.1 million (-50.3%)
4. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) — 77.7 million (-59.4%)
5. The Dark Knight (2008) — 75.2 million (-52.5%)
6. Captain America: Civil War (2016) — 72.6 million (-59.5%)
7. Iron Man 3 (2013) — 72.5 million (-58.4%)

That oddly makes some sense.  The keystone demographic group (millennial men) was wearing sombreros and drunk off its a$$.  You can count me among them.

Let's see what that Sunday number looks like.

Could be, in addition to the Kentucky Derby and NBA playoff like with Age of Ultron (minus the fight).

I see this list as somewhat corresponding to general audience reactions and expectations.

If we're posting anecdotal speculations -- I know up in New England it was the first really NICE Saturday we've had all year.  I saw TONS of people outside on my way to Free Comic Book Day.  We only had a hand full in the 1PM showing of Avengers.  Today was gross and rainy, and the 7:30PM showing I thought about going to was sold out.

16 plates plus the bar = 765lbs = 76.5% hold from Saturday = $35.67m Sunday = $113.7m weekend

You're assuming 45lb plates.  Those could easily be 50lb plates or 100lb plates.  Being Thor and the bend of the bar, I'd assume 100lb plates, and a 55lb bar not a 45lb one.  So that'd be 1655lbs.  Not sure what to do with that number tho.

I don’t think that this chart is particularly flattering for IW and I don’t believe that if it does an extra 1-2 million this weekend changes anything.
