It’s not getting on that area though. $35M-$45M second weekend seems likely.

@grey ghost For someone who is such a huge Marvel fanboy, you really act a lot more like the Joker, trying to breed chaos all the time. Like in the JW2 OW thread when you were hoping people would furiously argue over JW2 doing well or not. And everyone knows that directly insulting other members of the forum, especially if some of those are mods, results in trouble and general tension/unpleasantness in a place that's supposed to be for people to nerd out and relax about their favorite things. If EC thought he was better than that, that's his deal. I'm not saying he was the wrong one or the only one in the wrong, but in hindsight, it was kinda inevitable that what happened went the way it did.

But even if I was the Joker, Gotham is still standing.

I already said I had a grudge against JW/Universal for taking the studio crown back in 2016 or 2015 when I thought Disney had it in the bag. Did I get annoying? Yes and I apologize but I think we all survived and I've taken a semi-break from the weekend threads.

The point is, who and what is unpleasant is extremely subjective.

There are people who find off topic stuff unbearable and others who think its the life blood of this place.

I, myself, feel early numbers are also the life blood of BOT and I find EC funny but that's my personal opinion and hot take.

What I find annoying and unpleasant is the group think that goes on around here. Once certain posters disapprove or give a signal, like clockwork, others chime in with the exact same view.

This shit I find creepy af.

So yeah, we all have opinions and things we dislke.

Aside from the mods, no one's opinion should take precedent over any other.

I love EC. I’ve always said that I enjoy him as a poster and not just for his numbers but for the insight he provides about the industry. I’ve missed his posts about the industry. Not so much the numbers because we are going to be getting numbers regardless. But I do miss his insight about how a movie performs and what it means.

Having said that, there are rules in place on this forum. Just because someone has insight and insider info doesn’t mean that they get to break the rules. RTH has no problem with giving us numbers all while being respectful to other posters. I hope @EmpireCity does come back but when he does, I hope he follows the rules that you, other members and I have to follow. I certainly hope he can keep his sarcasm within his posts without resorting to personal insults and PMing members nasty comments. That shouldn’t be too much to ask for from an adult and since it’s asked of from every member on this forum, EC should be no different.

honestly the insult that seemed like it got empire city kicked out was pretty tame. i was mad at it for how lame and unoriginal it was more than anything. i think it was another "you post from your mom's basement" crack like that phrase isn't said somewhere on the internet 35 times a minute. i'm always so disappointed by the arguments on here because you guys all suck at roasting each other.

I think he’s even used that “insult” before on these forums too.

I think it was the fact he was taking it to PMs is what really did him in.

I’ve never had a problem with EC personally. I also like early numbers and his insider insight was nice.

BUT that doesn’t excuse his behavior, I don’t give a damn if you’re giving me numbers on the hour on the minute or on the goddamn second, you should abide to the same rules we all follow. Harassing others through PMs and flinging personal insults around are toxic as fuck, shameful as fuck and make the forum worse. I hope EC learns from this ban and becomes better.

To be honest, so many people on these forums are franchise fan boys and they just aren’t worth the time and effort to insult. Besides, if logic and reason have no impact on someone, what fun is there to be had by insulting them?

Tag is having a nice little run. Studios must be thrilled that comedies are doing well (if not exactly doing massive business) after so many flops in the genre the past two years or so.

I think they’re concerned that comedies still aren’t breaking out.

Game Night, Blockers, I Feel Pretty, Life of the Party, Tag have all done fine.

But the genre needs a Bridesmaids. Quickly.

Why must some of you continue wondering why Empire City got suspended? There's also things that go on behind the scenes and he did an extremely dumb thing to one of the moderators by email. So you guys honestly have no idea what you're talking about sometimes so how about you guys continue talking about movies and debate as to whether or not Fallen Kingdom will be profitable and just leave all the behind-the-scenes stuff to us. Until you know what goes on behind the scenes you really have no idea why people are suspended.

Another would be fanboy, butthurt no one cares about his favorite movies anymore.
