Is this A24's horror masterpice The Witch just now getting a SK release, or another Witch?

The Witch delivered a superb number one debut in South Korea on $7.3m on 1,090 screens, securing close to 50% of top five market share. The release is a Warner Bros Pictures presentation of a Gold Moon Film Production and Peppermint & Company co-production.

Universal not going crazy and giving t a 250m+ budget is amazing

Why ? What would an extra 70-80 million be for a movie that was doing over a billion anyway if this money was used to help create a better, more ambitious and more impressive movie that could elevate its bo gross closer to the first one ? A 250 million film doing 1.5 billion (having an AOU kind of drop from the first) seems better than an 170-180 million movie doing 1.1-1.2 billion .

It’s a different movie. Full title is The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion

Hereditary's legs are turning out to be fantastic for its genre, CS, or just movie in 2018 in general. Anyone know the best multi for a CS in the D or F range?

I think Vanilla Sky had a 4x multi ( 25 million opening, finishing with 100 million domestic ). This multi is insane, considering its D- CinemaScore. That's just half point above F.

Movie made 202 million worldwide. I think that's the only D CinemaScore movie ( though Vanilla was almost an F ) to make more than 200 million worldwide, if I'm correct.

It was a December release to be fair but yeah it had pretty reasonable drops even after the holidays.

I hate to bring politics in here but thinking about it some more Sicario 2 would be by far Donald Trump's favorite movie of the year. Took the complex politics of the first and turned it into "all the browns are coming across the border to kill you, personally!" Unbelievable the same writer did both of them. Also not a very well done movie at all. I hate it more the more I think about it.

I read the director changed the third act. No idea if it’s true of course but the movie seemed like it was missing the point of the first from the get go. I’m pretty sick of hyper-machismo drug war movies personally.

Icon Grace Randolph strikes again with her weekend gross summary.

Incredibles 2 forgein gross is very weak. It’s largely because of Jurassic world 2”

Glad she spilled the beans. Here I was thinking the reason was that’s it hasn’t been released in a lot of relevant markets yet. :hahaha:

Um the first one definitely did not give me the impression they had anything else to say either.. even Blunt’s character doesn’t so much as present a differing view on the drug war as it was a need to play by the rulebook as opposed to the rogue mentality of the mission.

Saw Upgrade today and it's an instant classic imo.  It shocked me.  It starts fast, stays fast and never really slows down.  Leigh Whannell has made one of the best action films in my life time.  It's retro but with a futuristic setting.  And you want to talk about a ballsy ending, eat your heart out Sicario 2.  This has now usurped IW, Adrift and Unsane as my fave of the year.

This show that Incredibles, Solo, Deadpool, Infinity War will likely have Monday drops of 45-50%.

Uncle Drew, Oceans 8, TAG, Neighbor, and Superfly should fall about 50% on Monday.

Book Club, Adrift, and Hereditary could fall 40%

Jurassic World and Sicario should fall about 55%

Won't You Be My Neighbor?, Book Club, Gotti, and Oceans 8 look like they could increase 90 to 100% on July 4th. (PTA-wise)

The rest should all go up around 1/3 to 2/3 on July 4th from Monday except Hereditary which will have to compete with Purge opening.

So Jurassic World is more than likely going over 1.2 billion.  And still some want to call it disappointing or even worse, a failure.  Proof is in the pudding folks.  And I doubt it is going to go below what the first one did in Japan and that was 70 million.  The Asian markets have been very good to FK.

Good hold for I2 but nothing I didn't expect.  It'll do about 550 and be the highest grossing animated film ever, domestically.  WW, it certainly won't pass Frozen and probably not Minions either.  But still, it'll hit it's billion.  Although it does have some really big markets to open up in so Minions is still a possibility.

Nice opening for Sicario 2.

Nice opening for UD.  I don't see the legs being anything great so a sub 40 million finish seems likely.

O8 will probably hit 130.

Tag will finish with a 4X.

Deadpool 2 has some sexy late legs and might go over 320.

Huge opening in India for Sanju

Solo and Won't you Be My Neighbor might switch spots with the actuals.

Upgrade finally opened in Canada and had an increase this weekend.  Best movie of the year so far.

John Tavares signed n Toronto today, that's the NHL to all of you who have never heard of him.  Leafs will win the cup in 3 years.

Lebron signed for 4 years for a gazillion dollars in LA with the Lakers.

And it's Canada Day here today.  I saw a movie, had a bbq, threw back some Molson and tomorrow is triple time at work and then I go to my buddy's cottage for three days.

It's been a good day.

No one's calling JW:FK's international take bad. But it's domestic run is definitely a sharp decrease from the first.

Exactly. Find me a worse admissions drop off DOM for a direct sequel this decade. It's basically just Alice 2 and Transformers 5. No one was exactly celebrating those drop offs.
