Great domestic run for Ocean's 8. Too bad about its international performance, which is frustratingly lackluster. But, I'm hoping it's more of a scheduling issue (it would probably perform better OS outside the summer).

I imagine Ocean's 9 will happen but I do think they should go for a November or December release next time.

Ant-Man's numbers are fine for that character. It's a very stand alone adventure and he isn't as famous as The Avengers.

Overseas numbers are good, it seems.

However, it's very frontloaded and it'll face some competition next weekends. Hotel Transylvania 3 might slash legs. I'm not sure about Skyscraper ( doesn't seem to be a movie to be watched by families ). The Equalizer 2 will be aimed at adults ( then again, I'm adult and I also watched Ant-Man ). Mission impossible will also be a tough competition.

I would say Hotel Transylvania and Mission Impossible will be dangerous to legs.

Ant-Man's number has me thinking Skyscraper has a shot to beat it for #2, behind Transylvania  this upcoming weekend.

damn Water Bottle I didn't know you had a sarcastic side

Ant-Man OW: $57.22 million

Ant-Man 2 OW: $75.81 million

That's a nice increase. Ant-Man 2 is a pretty big success so far.

ant-man2 is on track to do around 4x it's prod budget ww, that too with a good chunk from dom (unlike those movies where dom fails to match the budget but one os market like china makes up for it).

theatrical revenue could be roughly,

110 dom (0.55*200)

25 china (0.25*100)

110 os-china (0.33*335)

= 110+25+110 = 245 (635 ww) on 162 prod budget

Thought of the night that might trigger people: Ant Man and The Wasp will be the third biggest movie in July/August (behind Robin and HT3).

Ant Man 2 will also be the most expensive movie made released in July/August this year.

I can already tell this forum is setting itself up for disappointment re: Christopher Robin and will have no one to blame but themselves.

I'm quite confused - why do so many posters think Christopher Robin will be this giant hit?  I don't get it - I have heard absolutely no buzz whatsoever about it.

It looks really sweet and like a potential sleeper hit but I'm lost as to why some are expecting some monster hit other than the recent nostalgia craze for whatever reason.
