It's clearly more of a mid-level release for Disney ala Pete's Dragon '16 (which opened at the same time). And FWIW, Pooh and the other characters have never been a big box office draw in their animated films. The Tigger Movie is the biggest and even that adjusts to less than $80M with almost two decades of inflation.

I can't imagine the budget is super expensive, I'm guessing $60m so it'll make money either way.

The trailers before mission impossible were really unconvincing to me, lots of people groaned or laughed at them.

Christopher Robin, Nutcracker, Darkest Minds, it all mostly looks terrible.

Great, more room for Fallout to leg it out :sparta:

They sell TONS of merchandise though.  In 2013 Pooh was Disney's #3 seller behind the Princesses and Star Wars.   The movies help to refresh the brand

Oh, there's no question the Pooh merchandise moves millions each year. It's just too bad it's never seemed to translate to big box office numbers.

Fuck moviepass. Last week we went to see that shitty Eighth Grade movie and because that particular showtime was in a "premium" auditorium (reclining seats) we coudln't use MP. So 2 tickets cost $36. Which would have been fine if the movie hadn't been some bratty little **** whining and showing her dad attitude for a full 90 minutes.

Did you guys know La Binoche didn’t like Eighth Grade?  In case you didn’t know, here she goes making 5 posts obnoxiously hammering the point in that she didn’t like Eighth Grade.

She spent $36 on tickets for it - 5 posts seems a reasonable number if she hated it that much.

Same thing as Predator, was kind of shocked that even the first movie only adjusts to 140M and highest unadjusted in the series is 80M for AvP. Definitely thought it was a bigger franchise for some reason

IDK what to make of Christopher Robin. Buzz clearly peaked way too early, but I also have a hard time seeing it go below 30 based on all its factors.

I'm kind of surprised Disney didn't drop the review embargo for it yet. Normally when they expect really good reviews, the embargo drops around 2 weeks to release. Most other studios keep their embargo to release week anyway, but Disney pretty much drops it early every time they know the reviews will be great.

I was hoping for 70M for Fallout, but this is an acceptable and expected number for a series that continues to get better. To be fair, I didn't even know Teen Titans was being released until I checked RT's front page. I don't think the studio lost too much on what is essentially a niche audience.
