Deadpool 2 did less, Once Upon A Deadpool is PG-13 Deadpool 2 did what it did because of its gross in China and if it was going to get released in China a "PG-13" version was being released there regardless. Similar to how Logan was cut differently to be released in China. The Logan cut released in China would have probably been PG-13 everywhere else. Are we taking the China gross out of Logan's WW total too? *No sarcasm either. It's a genuine question. Same thing would have applied to the original Deadpool had it gotten a China release. It would have been cut in a way that would have made it PG-13 for a China release. Edited February 3, 2019 by Nova

Could have been an easy front-runner Not sure why they didn't release it earlier. Would have likely won. And helped it's box office. If it's eligible for next year's awards it will have been forgotten about by then.

"Unfortunately, the movie isn’t eligible in Oscar’s Best Documentary category for this year because they missed the Oct. 1 filing deadline" Not a release date issue, WB just bought the international rights to the movie too late (Oct 30)

I haven't watched Once Upon A Deadpool to know but by the accounts of folks who watched it, its the same as Deadpool 2 just told via a bed time story so it was cut in a way to allow it to pass censors. Similar to how Logan and other movies get cut in a way to pass sensors in other countries. *One of the reasons why I didn't bother going to watch it was hearing that it's pretty much the same as Deadpool 2. a2k
WDAS-Illumination Holiday combo of 2018 fell far behind their 2016 counterparts: WIR2 486.5 Grinch 508.7 995.2 Moana 643.3 Sing 634.2 1277.5 WIR2 and Grinch are still running but not much left in tank. Lego2 (WAG) and HTTYD3 (Uni/DW) will dent them further. ITSV (SPA) is on 347.3 and counting. Edited February 3, 2019 by a2k

I'd say that its gross is impressive considering how hard it bombed in usually key markets for animation like LA. WIR2 is really a disappointment.
