Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom | December 22, 2023 | David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (co-writer of first film) returns

Lack of trailer now is bizarre for sure, but TBH we all know it doesn't matter much. 99% of the views are online anyway.

WB will be in an odd place if this film is popular and a big box hit.

It’s getting Thor Love And Thunder vibes with it’s teaser less than 3 months before release

And they’re not moving, every big outlet already said the one movie WB isn’t moving is this one

It’s just very shitty marketing indeed, which is weird considering it’s a sequel to such a big movie. Yeah test screenings are awful but Meg 2 is also getting tepid audience scores and still doing somewhat acceptable numbers

if they are really not moving this then it is marketing malpractice to not have released the trailer with Barbie. Women love Momoa

Did WB even know how big Barbie would be? Seems like they assumed Flash would their biggest movie of the year with how hard they were pushing it.

I think it was the Wonka trailer that they attached to Barbie.

Even Momoa standing shirtless looking at Atlantis teaser would have gotten some talk.

This movie is most likely awful and a flop. But it got a great release date. Just release it as scheduled and lessen your losses by benefiting from the lack of competition. What is there to think about, WB?

If WB thinks they can think make a better movie by keeping on reshooting scenes, haven't they learnt the phrase "you can't polish a turd." ?

They're not promoting it much because they know they have another flop on their hands and don't want to send good money after bad.

Aquaman did well, but that was years ago, before a series of massive flops. It's a good job Barbie did as well as it did, otherwise WB would probably be in even more serious, business ending financial trouble.

Frankly, this and Blue Beetle should have been dumped to HBO Max, and the next cinema release should be Superman.

Reshoots don't help either

They didn't release Batgirl thinking it won't do well and released flash instead that should tell you

I would be stunned if the trailer isn't with BB

WB didn't attach an Aqumam trailer to Barbie, by far their biggest movie of the year, so they already failed to give this the widest possible promotion. Instead the spot was given to Wonka.

With the reshoots who knows how much was even showable then. It doesn't sound like they plan to move it though so if a trailers not with Blue Beetle I can't really imagine where else it'd be. Aside from The Nun the next major WB release is Dune and that'd be way too late before release. The next major releases that aren't R are...Gran Turismo? Maybe Haunting in Venice? FNAF?

Christmas is pretty empty this year thanks to the strikes. The biggest releases aside from this are Wonka and Migration (and The Color Purple but Broadway adaptations haven't been reliable at the box office in a while). They might as well just go for it and make whatever holiday money they can because they'll never have a better release date than the one this has now.

It's a good idea for moving Wonka to XMas, not keeping Aquaman there.
