I meant next summer, so omit Dune

Right now it's just Nolan and Wonder Woman and a whole lotta nothing. Maybe Top Gun or Jungle Cruise, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Black Widow?

I don't know. I'm kinda excited for TS4, FFH, and especially TLK (the visuals are glorious to behold).

Not excited for the new Tarantino? Godzilla 2 could be pretty fun too.

All doom and gloom in this thread. But guess who's back:

Paramount Pictures Is “Again An Iconic Studio,” Viacom CEO Bob Bakish Asserts;

The delusion. Among the Big 5 major studios, Paramount will be the last place this year.

There's definitely a handful of movies I'm for sure seeing but in terms of breaking out well beyond expectations, I'm not seeing another Crazy Rich Asians in sight (yet, at least).

I'm hoping Blinded by the Light does it, but it seems like another sing street than a Big Fat Greek Wedding or CRA.

The Upside is really the only movie so far this year that has truly broken out well beyond what was expected of it tbh.

So you don't consider EG's performance as "broken out well beyond what was expected"? Interesting.

Yeah next summer besides nolan and WW looks lackluster. Jungle Cruise i think will surprise and make some good money. TG2 is a flop

Wouldn't be too sure about that...

really?

I mean I'm totally looking forward to the next JW, but I can't see it matching the much more GA-accessible Aladdin, Godzilla, and Pika.

Judging by aladdin early reviews. That movie won’t be doing much anywhere

also even at detective pikachu lowest of lows in China. It will be higher than Aladdin than highest of highs

It's way, way, way too early to say this.

Aladdin is a Disney movie.  I don't think you really grasp what that means.

It could bomb, but coming to that conclusion this far in advance because of advanced sales is not justified.  You keep saying that DP is a kids movie and will play like a kids movie so we shouldn't be too alarmed by advanced sales numbers or totals from preview night, but it's not even certain that DP will play like a kids movie; Aladdin is the very definition of a kids movie, so using your own logic, we shouldn't be paying too much attention to advanced sales.

That movie's on a whole different level from everything else on top of the already insane expectations it had, come on now.

Top Gun 2 feels like Independence Day 2 all over again

But they actually got the main star back in the film instead of....Liam Hemsworth/Jessie T. Usher
