The late April Marvel releases often coincide with ANZAC Day in Australia/NZ so it's an added complication when trying to make a comparison. Plus ANZAC DAY is fixed at April 25 so it can be any day of the week.
Heretic
Today looks just as strong, if not even better than Saturday/Sunday. Night time business will be down, but it wouldn't surprise me if Guardians squeezed past The Avengers 4-day. This has opened quite a lot bigger than expected I think. Heretic
I wasn't going to post again but this is doing absolutely RIDICULOUS business today. Probably will be one of the biggest Monday grosses ever. Can't see it missing £16m 4-day. Edited May 1, 2017 by Heretic

Heretic
Incredible! That's around £13m. Will be over £17m with Monday, huge opening, just below Civil War and Ultron 4-days.

Avatree
so GOTG2 may well be able to clear £45M / $60M, that would be an excellent target.
Heretic
I'd say £40m right now. Even CW couldn't reach the mark with a £19m 4-day. Not really sure why that had such terrible legs, but they should be at least a little bit better for Guardians.

Considering Captain America had no big competition until X-Men, it was surprising it barely outgrossed BvS. Guardians does have tougher competition in Alien Covenant, King Arthur and Pirates but I think it'll have better legs than Captain America

Heretic
Holy shit, £4.8m Monday for Guardians. No one was expecting nearly £18m 4-day. It should be at £28-29m or so by Sunday which will be close to the first films lifetime total. Very good weekend for other films too. Boss Baby has had a really great run, and it looks like it could get past £30m in the end. It has no virtually no competition until Pirates, and there's no big animated film until Despicable Me 3 in the end of June. Fast 8 should hit £30m too, and Beauty and the Beast continues its run to £75m. Edited May 2, 2017 by Heretic
