Do you really think that’s the case here? Clearly the musical elements throughout didn’t connect, the ending was handled terribly and significant edits changed what was likely a more substantial role for Gaga’s Lee. I was just pointing out that most aspects that can make a film great were indeed great, but this being so lacking as a whole package is wild.

It's shocking how easily forgotten this movie is. Nobody is talking about it anymore. I was expecting fanboy wars, but the nerds simply don't care. I guess , in the end the movie was not controversial like the first one; this one was just meh for the audience

Mark Romanek is free to champion whatever movie he wants to. But even respected filmmakers are still dicks if they give in to the "everyone else just doesn't get it" whining.

For the sake of all involved this is the silver lining I guess. It being forgotten quickly would be a big win for Phoenix and Gaga, though I imagine the stink of this will linger around Phillips a while longer.

havent seen the film myself but I've heard several critics say specifically that they think it will age well, and in future years it will be looked back on positively. he is definitely not an unusual voice in that respect.

Name me a movie where there were not differing  opinions.

The point is the film was overall badly received..and yes I think this guy's "Verty TOp Filmakers" stateement should be taken with a ton of salt since he gives no names and no evidence,

And the guy's resume does not impress me very much.

Every time a ambitous film flops you hear that, and once in a while it actually happens.

People keep on judging Philips ambitions, and not what ended up on the screen. And, in the end, what we see on the screen in th only thing that realy matters.

And, of course, some people are prefessional contrarians; they will disagree with standard opinions just because it makes them feel edgy, daring, and intellectually superior to all the stupid proles.
