Blue Beetle | August 18, 2023 | WB/DC | Director - Angel Manuel Soto | First DC Universe Character!

I am still  surpriased that people who have been on these boards for a long time still don't get  some of the bsic facts of the film business. ;like how just getting a movie into theaters can add a lot of the cost of a movie.

Again, it was far more valuable to WB/DC to release this to theaters than to bury it on streaming. Maybe if they had Netflix's reach we would've seen it go straight there, but they don't, so it didn't.

And again, this whole "it needs to double its budget" "it needs to make 2.5x its budget" garbage is all garbage. It's how the general community can get a gauge on how a movie did, but nobody besides internal executives know the actual costs and profits. Do you all really think movies cost "$150 mil"? Ahh how convenient! A round number!

Uh, it cost tens of millions of dollars just to get a movie  into theaters. That is a major reason why some movies get sent straigh to Video or streaming; The studiios think it is going to be a sure  fire bomb, and don't want to  add to the red ink by throwing away money on a doomed film.

It would have lost way more on streaming! 90M (original price tag) is a lot for streaming movie

I think the only streaming services that really have the pull to do big movie releases are Netflix and maybe Amazon Prime.

We might add Apple to the list with "Killers Of The FLower Moon".

should blame DC fans for never showing up.

DC fans be like : r/dccomicscirclejerk

This meme implies that DC fans have a strong online presence, but at least for their recent flops, I didn't see much online buzz for them. The last theatrical DC movie that was always trending was The Batman.

Why… it’s almost as if the vast majority of DC fans still support DC, but not anything to do with the DCEU (which this movie very obviously was part of).
