Regardless of what the preview number actually ends up being, I think one thing this thread has conclusively learned is Fourth of July fucks with pre-sales.

Something to remember in future years.

I think we learnt that like two times so far and it wasn't really surprising this year or for that matter last year as well for BW.

I cannot like this post enough times. Was worried about exactly such a scenario, but after the Fri/Sat numbers came in, and they were a bit soft but mostly in line with trend, it appeared the holiday impact was going to be minimal, constrained to Sun/Mon and some catch-up later in the week.

Instead, Thor pulls exactly the statistical anomaly I said it would have to, and will get relegated to the outlier scrap heap (along with Eternals)

Am wondering how much of it is 4th of July and how much of it is just a movie with a high level of interest, but not as much fan/spoiler rush as comps.

I mean 4th of July fell on a true 3 day weekend this year so probably a lot of people extended their vacations.

I do think Ragnarok is one of the most beloved by the GA MCU movies and probably a lot of people were going to see this as a Ragnarok sequel rather than a post-Endgame MCU thing.

Fair enough, but now I think we have unequivocal proof with Mon dropping from Sun and with Tue/Wed/Thr all getting boosted much more than reviews would have suggested.

I guess I am saying it is harder to find a circumstance with with the variables have cleared out to such a degree that you can point to the Fourth as the overwhelming main factor (esp since last year there was PA as well as 'rona complicating matters).

The Duality of BOT, once again on display.
