The next couple months are going to be bare with almost certainly no movie opening over $30 million.

Halloween Ends is going to be the first "major" release in more than two months, when it releases on October 14th and people will be ready for a high profile flick. Universal will no doubt ride on "Their Saga Ends".. and it will benefit from limited competition.

I think a $70 million OW is certainly possible.

Halloween Kills wasn't exactly a crowdpleaser, and apparently Ends is even more divisive, so it'll be lucky to reach half your number at this point.

And just so everyone is on the same page, your numbers include EA and my regionals do not.  I think we're in the same range assuming ~1m EA

True. But "The Last Jedi" and "Fallen Kingdom" weren't exactly huge hits with fans either.

"Rise of Skywalker" and "Dominion" didn't take that big of drops from those movies.

A rough few weeks for theaters between Nope, Superpets and Bullet Train.

I still think Nope did totally fine. We were literally thinking sub 40m until the last week or two.

It cost 70M, it had tons of marketing and it won't even do 200M WW. Not a flop, but not fantastic either for a movie with a 1 year long campaign.

Nope did really well for a R rated movie that everybody thought didn’t have no buzz.

Exactly. It was still a hit for an R Rated original film. The success of Get Out and Us created high expectations.

This is still a win for theatres.

To be honest, how much of the general audience even really know who Jordan Peele is beside his films?

I mean, it's not even out yet overseas, that part might be a bit premature though I wouldn't count on it being over 200m.

The marketing last year was just a poster or two. Marketing didn't really start until the Super Bowl and the 2nd trailer hit pretty late as is. And 200m on a 70m budget is totally appropriate, it's just that Peele's last two flicks were wildly profitable. But we knew that he was gonna take a hit because Us was mixed and that's pretty much what played out.

Not that it makes big difference, but this film will over index in West with higher Filipino population. Hawaii can be over performer for this.

Yea if anyone is manually counting you can usually hit f12, go to elements tab , ctrl F , and enter a term that will show you howmany sears are taken.  I guess it varies but "unavailable"  usually works.  If know total seats for the handful of layouts your theater(s) have it may save you a bit of time

NeadwdD.png

And just I recommend first time clicking through them all, you will see there may be some that arnt seats.  In this caser 2 of those results arnt seats and they are hte 39 and 40 result.  Tehre could be small variation with the handicaps seats etc. but this can be a huge time saver if going by hand.

30M is going to be down to the wire on Bullet Train. Sales aren't bad around here but also not indicating high demand. Maybe the high screen count is making it feel more scattered? My IMAX showing in an hour is about 20% of what the 7PM showing was, a dropoff which normally hasn't been the case for PLF this summer. Easter Sunday is selling godawful too.
