Any idea on how many theaters the new wide releases Plane and House Party will be in, as well as the expansion of Otto? Thanks

Otto going to 3,500

Plane 2,900

And House Party it seems around 1,000

They're really trying to keep the Mystery Movie ... a mystery

Spoiler

Code name is HMMM , but keys don't unlock until late afternoon.  Missing does seem to be the most likely play, given rating and upcoming release schedule, but far less sure than with previous shows

I think it's pretty obvious it's Missing. Plenty of word going around that it's screening this week.

Plane, counted today for Thursday, Jan 12:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 24 (2 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
6 (1 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
2 (1 showtime)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): no showtimes so far
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 2 (2 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
26 (2 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 29 (3 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 6 theaters: 89.

Comps (all counted on Monday for Thursday): Angel Has Fallen had 199 sold tickets,

Rambo: Last Blood had 205 sold tickets

and Copshop had 18 sold tickets.

Plane, counted today for Friday, Jan 13:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 43 (5 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24):
2 (4 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18):
no showtimes so far
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): no showtimes so far
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 2 (3 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16):
22 (4 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 14 (4 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 5 theaters: 83.

Comps (all counted on Monday for Friday): Angel Has Fallen had 136 sold tickets,

Rambo: Last Blood had 116 sold tickets,

Copshop had 11 sold tickets,

BT had 655 sold tickets
and The Protege had 32 sold tickets.

Overall not really good but quite solid so far.

House Party had today 38 sold tickets in 5 theaters for Thursday.
Comp: Bob's Burgers had on Tuesday of the release week 320 sold tickets

and Jackass Forever had on the same day, Monday of the release week, 239 sold tickets.
For Friday House Party had 26 sold tickets.
Comps (both counted also on Monday for Friday): Easter Sunday had 162 sold tickets

and Jackass Forever had 502 sold tickets.
Bob's Burgers had again on Tuesday 294 sold tickets.

Very muted presales at the moment.

A Man Called Otto had to my big surprise only showtimes in 3 theaters for Thursday and only 7 sold tickets.
The Friday presales look even worse: 5 sold tickets with showtimes in 2 of my 7 theaters.
Very strange.
But I saw that it gets a normal release elsewhere so probably around Wednesday it will look different in my theaters too.

Since my Cinemarks like to run foreign films, when I see a surprising set for one, I like to report it.

Next week, Waltair Veerayya is taking 1/2 an XD screen from Avatar (and taking the night shows, not the day ones) and getting booked on 1.5 screens at my 1st local.

Is this supposed to be big?

yeah 4 South Indian films releases this weekend. Nothing big individually but combined they can put like $6M+ 5-days if reception is good for all 4.

Yeah. my 1st Cinemark is booking all 4, although 2 are sharing a screen.  They gave the films 1.5, 1, .5, and .5 screens, which along with the new openers, finally does again materially affect Avatar's set, b/c it's down to 2.66 screens (vs 4) and it's lost .5 of XD...

Guess they're gonna see if more folks come out for India's January offerings vs Hollywood's ones...

For the record, the Indian film I referenced got a bigger set than Plane and House Party (both only single screened)...but new movies are taking 5 of 14 screens this weekend...

cinemark is preferred chain by distributors as they give higher % of share. these films are very fast burning,  make most of their money in first weekend.

I can answer my question - the presales for this movie at my 2 locals are bonkers...this is obviously winning the "highest grossing of the Indian movies" this weekend.  The local I listed that is giving this 1.5 screens for the weekend, has given this 3 equivalent evening screens for Thursday and they have enormous presales as of today (at least for foreign films - I mean, it's not an MCU or anything...but still)...
