Boring day today so I decided to pull Scream and 65's previews in the Milwaukee Metro area. Below is the Milwaukee Metro + Madison Area previews. 65 is doing terrible. Multiple theaters with 0 tickets sold. Scream is doing well especially the fan events at 5:00pm.

Film                Total Sold      Total Seats      Percent Sold      # of Showings

Scream VI            751             9,045                 8.3%                     60

65                          92             3,853                 2.4%                     32

Here is the Friday update! Scream VI is doing fantastic. A very strong uptick from yesterday. We are getting nasty weather tonight so I expect walk ups to be soft but thanks to presales Scream VI should be fine.

Film Total Sold Total Seats Percent Sold # of Showings
65 125 3,853 3.2% 32
Scream VI 1,014 9,045 11.2% 60

Out of curiosity which theaters do you use for Milwaukee Metro? Menomonee and AMC Mayfair?

Mario is going all out at my local theater. It’s the first time I’ve seen a movie start at 10:30 am in years and a big 3D/2D split for PLF moreso than any other tentpole, even Avatar.

12:30/5:00/10:00 for 3D, 2:30 and 7:00 for 2D

Is someone keeping an eye out for @Porthos? Im concerned for his/her possible well being upon seeing this start time for a movie.....

1st local unofficial presale set for D&D is matching Shazam, Wick, and Scream - 2 screens, 1 XD and 1 regular.  So, it will be getting enough space for decent presales like every other March open...

Mario is the next presale set outlier, getting a much bigger set...

I just do Marcus Theaters.

I know but which Marcus theaters. Cause usually I think Menominee or North Shore as those are the only one I can think of near Milwaukee.

Greendale, Delafield, Waukesha (Named Brookfield), Menomonee Falls, Brookfield, Mequon, New Berlin, Saukville, Oak Creek, Milwaukee (South Gate).

Franklin (Showtime Cinema) is showing closed to I don't do that one. Basically, I do every theater within 40 miles of Milwaukee.

Same at my local theater. They are going all out on Wednesday with 18 showtimes ranging from 11:00am to 9:30pm. Both Ultra Screens are booked (one is showing 2D and other is 3D - 5 showings each). Total possible seats is at 3,852 seats.

Curious to see the 3D and PLF portions for this. Imagine if Mario is the Alice in Wonderland with the 3D burst driving it to big grosses again after Avatar: The Way of Water (though obviously not on the same level)

Quick look at Mario, its looking more like "Meh"rio. I dont think there is any fan rush for this. If it behaves like a original animation movie, expectations have to be set lot lower.

My local Cinemarks are not yet selling any tickets, so I imagine it's being held down since not all chains are open for sales yet...

Can confirm, several major chains are staggered and/or not even fully populated with showtimes. One of my sources said it may be later this afternoon (East Coast USA time) before some start selling tickets.

The final trailer is today at 5/4 PM on a Nintendo Direct so I imagine tickets on sale after the trailer on Nintendo Direct.

65, counted today for today:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 67 (3 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 35 (3 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 14 (2 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 20 (2 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 6 (1 showtime)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 65 (3 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 93 (3 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 300.

Up 34% since yesterday.
Comps (all counted on Thursday for Thursday): Plane (435k from previews) had 210 sold tickets,
Beast (925k) had 263
and Moonfall (700k) had 777 sold tickets (but 65 did come closer every day so 65 will not get only 300k from previews).
1M seems more realistic.

65, counted today for Friday:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 85 (5 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 26 (8 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 12 (4 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 8 (4 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 16 (3 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 70 (8 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal): 75 (7 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 292.

Up mediocre 30% since yesterday.
Comps (all counted on Thursday for Friday): Plane (10.3M OW) had also 292 sold tickets,
Beast (11.6M) had
248,
The Protégé (2.9M) had
91,
Moonfall (9.9M) had
368
and Fantasy Island (12.3M) had 647 sold tickets. As mentioned FI had no Thursday shows. With Thursday shows it would have been 300-400 sold tickets for Fantasy Island.
Low teens would be my guess.

Champions needs the help of walk-ups or WOM or of the quite good reviews because it had almost no new sales in my theaters.

Not shocking. Many of the people that picked a Dreamcast have never forgiven Nintendo.

My biggest curiosity is to see how popular an animated Mario movie will actually do in theatres. The Sonic movies have done well (admittedly live action at that) and not as many casual people know Sonic compared to Mario. So one would think it should make tons even compared to Sonic, but then the whole voice actor thing came up-so yea just legitmately intrigued. Universal opening its US MarioWorld in California (dont know if the Florida one is going yet), one would think they have a vested interested in this movie doing very well.

Florida one is a few years out going in to their new park, but will be way bigger.
